There's another one on like 47th that will deliver to most of Hyde park that's marginally better, but still not remotely good Chinese food.

You're probably best off ordering a more Chinese-food-esque dish from noodles/snail. Or going to Chinatown like reg says.

Honestly one of my biggest complaints about Hyde park ks the lack of decent Chinese/mexican restaurants.

Nicky's is some of the worst Chinese I've ever had in my life. Rajun is completely serviceable Indian and easily worth the 9 bucks or whatever for the 7 pounds of food you get.

Strongly disagree. Unless by serviceable you mean "contains calories and will not make you ill." In that case, sure.

As many of you might have seen, the cost of renting an apartment in New York as well as the take-home income of biglaw lawyers was discussed in depth in this thread. However, although there are online calculators (e.g., Pay City) that you can use to estimate your take-home income, they don't appear to take things into account such as personal exemptions, standard deductions, etc.

I just got done creating this Google Doc that anyone can use to easily calculate and compare the take-home incomes in New York and Chicago. (I apologize that the numbers will change if more than one person uses it at the same time, but I didn't want to simply upload an Excel spreadsheet since people are often weary about downloading those.) Lastly, I've refrained from hiding the tax-table tabs so that anyone who wants to see how the taxes are being calculated can.

I would definitely get a ski jacket/parka. You can make it with just a pea coat a lot of days, but there are some brutal days (and nights) and having a really nice coat makes them so much more bearable. I have a down one from North Face and an omni heat one from Columbia and they're both great. Definitely worth the money.

I've got one of those omni heat Columbia jackets with a removable outer shell that I've only needed when it's snowing hard or was -40. It was like $250 but been well worth it and I'm sure I'll use it for several more years before I need a new one. Good investment.

Nothing you do that is a college society sort of thing will be enough of a "soft" to sway the admissions committee one way or another. As beepboopbeep said, LSAT + GPA are all that really matter other than epic softs.

If you're only going outside to go back and forth to the law school that's a pretty miserable existence.
