Does anyone have any advice for students who have Hemholz?

Moynihan's Introduction to the Law of Real Property is the best supplement. Class is sort of a clusterfuck. It's going to be impossible not to stress about his coldcalls, but try anyway. He's not great about crossing people off so even if you get called on, be prepared.

He fluctuates between open and closed book exams, and generally won't tell you until a couple weeks before, so there's that. There is a very specific way to take his exams, but it's way too early to worry about that. Ask me when it's relevant.

Hemholz's class is great. Enjoy it for what it is and you'll have a good time.

2) Opinions on joining a pre-law fraternity for internship/networking connections? (My current mode of thinking: pre-law frat connections --> prestigious internships --> tie breaker for law school admissions between someone else w/ same LSAT/GPA as me)

I founded a non-profit and did marketing/graphic design/art stuff. Wasn't asked about either, though the nonprofit has come up a lot during OCI/callbacks.

Didn't know pre-law frat was a thing. Probably won't matter and will be a waste of time, but if you like the people, eh, whatever. Just kill the LSAT and keep your GPA up. If you're at the point in undergrad where joining a frat is still an option, "tie breaker" is not what you should be worrying about.

None of these questions are really UofC-specific and have been talked about to death in other parts of these forums. Use the search function.

If it's any consolation my grade performance had almost no relationship to how much I liked/disliked/understood my 1L professors. Not sure if that is in the minority of majority of students but there you have it.

when do stafford/direct plus loans hit our accounts? should i be concerned that nothing is showing on my statement and a due date of 9/19 is listed?

They hit like the Friday before school starts normally (so probably a week from this Friday). As long as you have some sort of loan application in the works the school doesn't care about due dates.

So my plan to take accounting at Booth this quarter has failed, since the class is full. Most classes at Booth are full. Does anyone know how difficult it is generally for law students to get into classes there? Is this an anomaly because it's fall quarter, or is it pretty much like this every quarter?

I'm hoping it's a combination of the fact that we can only take prereq-type courses at this point, and all the incoming Booth students need to take those classes this quarter.

In the meantime, picked up a clinic that sounds pretty awesome. We'll see what happens next quarter, I guess.

I found it was tough to get many of the popular Booth classes, but for things like accounting there was usually some less popular section that had room. Also, you can sometimes do the show-up-to-the-first-class-and-grovel-to-the-prof thing.

Read model exams and learn how to include everything he wants without typing too much. Short is almost always better.

There's another one on like 47th that will deliver to most of Hyde park that's marginally better, but still not remotely good Chinese food.

You're probably best off ordering a more Chinese-food-esque dish from noodles/snail. Or going to Chinatown like reg says.

Honestly one of my biggest complaints about Hyde park ks the lack of decent Chinese/mexican restaurants.

De Rice in Kenwood is pretty good. It's the best Chinese delivery you're going to get to HP anyway.
