I'm on the T-Mobile $30 Wal-mart plan. You get unlimited data and text but only 100 min for phone. Good for me since I hate talking on the phone, but not for everyone. T-Mobile reception is fine in my apartment at Regentslawschool2014hopeful wrote:I am currently comparing cell phone plans, and I see Virgin mobile being the cheapest by far? Is there a significant downside to this? It would cost me 27 dollars monthly at Virgin mobile, double the price with all the other carriers.

Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
I had to switch from US Cellular to Verizon 1L year because I got no reception in Regents. (ironically US Cellular is like based out of south side Chicago...) I ended up getting a consistent like 2 bars at 3G. Of course you can and should just have your phone go through your WiFi so it's not as big of an issue, but still annoying.
FYI cell reception at the law school is real bad too

Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
It seems like at least some of the bidding/deciding/assigning is done, but Corp Lab doesn't show up under my courses for the fall quarter. When I look at the course information, though, neither section is full (or even close). Anybody know what gives?

I only got my top two choices. Not sure how fucked I am lol. But another class I bid third has 0/75 people. So maybe it's not done filling yet.

Does the scheduling work for you? Have you tried just straight up signing up for it now?elterrible78 wrote:It seems like at least some of the bidding/deciding/assigning is done, but Corp Lab doesn't show up under my courses for the fall quarter. Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
They scheduled me for a class conflict :-/ I was aware of it, but bid both and figured the system would do the first choice if I got it and drop the second, and only do the second choice if I didn't get a first. Guess not.
Anything I can do about it, other than just wait until add-drop? I don't really get how pre-registration differs from add/drop, tbh.

We only need 9 credits right? So you can just take 3 classes a quarter?

3/quarter will not get you to graduation. You need to average just under 11 credits per quarterRahviveh wrote:We only need 9 credits right? So you can just take 3 classes a quarter?

I think it averages out to 4 quarters with 4 classes and 2 quarters with 3 classes.

Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
I expect that the registration website won't show you accurate enrollment numbers until the open registration period begins on Tuesday (although it might not be until Add/Drop - I don't really remember the difference in those two periods to be honest.)
Also if you bid for a class and didn't get it, you're automatically on the waitlist so keep an eye out for an email from the registrar called "Waitlist Activation Notification" - they'll tell you if you're able to register, and you need to respond to their email to enroll in the class. This happened several times for me so don't freak out too much yet if you didn't get a class you wanted.

Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
Corporate Lab is only showing the people who rolled over from previous quarters right now. You have to stay in for 3 consecutive quarters and the people carrying over from last year are automatically registered for the next quarter. So it just hasn't updated with the new students who got it through bidding, I think. If it's not under your courses, you aren't in it (but are still on the WL).elterrible78 wrote:It seems like at least some of the bidding/deciding/assigning is done, but Corp Lab doesn't show up under my courses for the fall quarter. Someone needs to tell DG not to make registration during OCI. That is some bullshit.

Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
Those results should be more or less typical, and there just isn't as much strategy for bidding for classes as there is for OCI. It'll usually be hard to get more than your first and/or second choice, especially if you're bidding on seminars or popular lectures. When you've got 400 2Ls + 3Ls and 70 LLMs all bidding on maybe 20 desirable seminars, chances are high that anything you bid at 3 or lower (or even 2 or lower) has at least 20 people bidding it higher.Regulus wrote:Only got my top 1 choice. EDIT: And my #5 choice that I randomly signed up for and was planning on dropping - advanced legal writing or something like that.
EDIT EDIT: Fuck the bidding system. And fuck having to do that during OCI without having any idea of how we should bid to not be screwed.
And compared to last year, the lectures are significantly underenrolled - maybe people all bid seminars high this quarter, which would have made getting into seminars even harder than usual.

Re: UChi Current Students Taking Questions
I literally got 100% of classes I bid last year and this fall, you guys suck at this (or I have bad taste in classes???)
PSA - I don't know any class that didn't take people off the WL, and i don't know anyone on a WL who didn't get off if they tried. Show up to the first day and if there's a seat you will get it.

I think Reg is just bad. Don't compare the rest of us to him.2014 wrote:I literally got 100% of classes I bid last year and this fall, you guys suck at this (or I have bad taste in classes???)

Agreed with the seat thing. I've only heard of one class not letting people in when they showed up to the first class session.
That said... 4/4 classes including a greenberg... what's wrong with you guys!?

Do Greenbergs ever end up pulling from the waitlist?2014 wrote:I literally got 100% of classes I bid last year and this fall, you guys suck at this (or I have bad taste in classes???)

I can second the general rule that you'll get in if you want to. My 1L year the WL for Roman law was something like 80 people long, but the 2-3 people who actually showed up the first day were allowed in.
