Those of you with Coleman for Torts are in luck: she doesn't do a casebook anymore. You'll buy a coursepack that she and another Torts professor have created together from the school...I think it was $30 or $35.

Also, she's pretty cool. Just do the readings and you'll be just fine for your cold calls. Also she will really like it if you are able to give her only the relevant facts to the case, and don't give into the urge to wordvomit the whole thing back at her.

Any comment regarding how recommended the optional books are for Civ Pro with Sachs?

Civil Procedure by Freer: 9781454802228
Civil Procedure Stories by Clermont: 9781599413471
Civil Procedures Examples & Explanations by Glannon: 9781454815488
Glannon Guide to Civil Procedure by Glannon: 9781454827467

I searched the topic for his name before posting, and it looks like the Glannon books are at least recommended by someone.

Both Glannon books are on reserve in the library, and I found both useful (but I didn't have Sachs).

Back to more serious questions than classes and books:

What's the best brunch spot in Durham? (with preference given to a place with cheap individual bloodys/mimosas as opposed to a bottomless deal)

Parker and Otis, Watt's Grocery, Nasher, Broken Egg, Guglhupf, Elmo's. I think Watt's is probably the most popular response and the only one that I know definitely serves mimosas.

Another important question: When and where can one purchase liquor in this region of the Bible Belt...

From what I can tell, it's only at ABC stores. So where's the closest one to campus? Google is proving unhelpful.

ABC stores are the only place you can get liquor. There's one on Hillsborough east of Fulton/Hillendale. For Pinnacle people there's an ABC store across 15/501 business. On google maps they're listed as Durham or Durham County ABC Board.

Awesome, thanks. I was wondering if that was an actual store or not. Too bad they're closed weekends...

I know they're all closed on Sundays, but they're supposed to be open on Saturdays...

The supplements have new editions come out every year or two. That can't possibly make a huge difference, right?

After enduring the spring with Haagen, do you or anyone else have any general advice? I've continually heard his name brought up on here, and I'm a bit concerned now that I've gotten my schedule.
Cross your fingers and hope for the best? Few people came out with the result they expected (which includes some doing quite well who had expected to fail). By far my most frustrating class so far.
Does anyone know if Haagen cold calls? Seems like he just calls on whoever raises their hand (so far at least).

Each day so far I've left that class just slightly more confused than when I entered it.

Did anyone have Crim Law with Farahany? If you have a good outline that you relied upon during the exam, would you share it?

Also, any other insider advice / guidance would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

The short answer is, we basically can't.

The longer answer is, I think students can park in chem or circuit for free if they have student parking passes, but it's general admission so if it fills up with football attendees first, that's that... and you can't get on to campus at all except from Research Drive or LaSalle, I think. They basically make it impossible for you to get on campus on game days. I've given up on it, so maybe someone who hasn't has some tips.

ETA: It's a lot easier to do when it's an evening game. I didn't realize this past game was at 6ish or whenever it was.

During camp-out, is there any type of access to electricity from the RV/uhaul parking?

You missed Foster's Market.

Also, Alivia's for brunch is (a) underrated, (b) has mimosas, and (c) is typically not all that crowded.

eta: good list tho. what/where is Broken Egg tho? must be newish.

It's a breakfast/lunch-only place tucked away in the same complex on Erwin as Chipotle, Smashburger, Firehouse Subs, etc. Looks like it's only 2-2.5 years old. Apparently there are also locations in Raleigh and Morrisville. I've only been there once, but it was pretty good.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
