What's the best way to prepare for Schechtman's test, if you have been extremely negligent in doing the reading and showing up to class?

Kraus Review Session:
1. "Grades are stupid and meaningless. If I could get rid of them I would."
2. "I'm giving a third of you a B- or worse, even though I don't have to."
Great show, otherwise.

He does his "accept failure" speech every year. I wouldn't think much of it. I don't think he gave any notable B-s last year, and he was pretty clear about the kind of shit that could land you in that spot .

More than maybe one or so. I haven't heard of anyone getting discretionaries. However, I have heard that Harcourt went ham on some students last year.

Is it true that Kraus has given the same final three years in a row (the one with the major typo)?
And is everyone else going to know what's on it?

He and Bob Scott have been giving the same exact terrible exam for the past few years. It's almost entirely mistake and fraud.White Dwarf wrote:Is it true that Kraus has given the same final three years in a row (the one with the major typo)?

If it's anything like what I've experienced so far in Conflict of Laws: it will be hilarious, but you'll be confused as to what exactly you're learning, and you'll have to learn the subject on your own.
It says something that he said in our class that fed courts is so easy that he doesn't even feel like he has to teach it.

Re: Columbia 1L(s) taking questions
It's strange because it was probably one of the easiest exams he has given in years. It was a joke compared to his previous exams, particularly his 2014 exam. I'm really wondering what those students did to get that grade. It does make me feel a bit better with the grade I got, though.LetsGoMets wrote:1L but heard he gave out several discretionary Cs last year. I was in his class in '14 and he said the Chicago curve required him to give the equivalent of Cs to a number of people. I hadn't heard anything about him giving them out at Columbia until now.

Is signing up for Jackson's Corporations worth it (as a 2L) even though it's also a 1L elective? Wondering if getting the Jackson experience is worth being completley outgunned by the 1Ls.

Do it now. I wanted to take it this spring but it conflicts with another class I need.almondjoy wrote:Is signing up for Jackson's Corporations worth it (as a 2L) even though it's also a 1L elective? Wondering if getting the Jackson experience is worth being completley outgunned by the 1Ls.

Don't wind up in my position.

Re: Columbia 1L(s) taking questions
An all around great guy; his class is pretty lively; and the material is not particularly dense, though he has an annoying taste for handouts, which I personally don't are much for, I wish profs would stick to a book I can get proper case briefs for. He also makes corps more relevant and less theoretical and even brings in some corp finance to try and help people develop better financial literacy.
... he is also a fast cyclist.

Anyone remember how long your housing application took to process and get a decision? I applied for Spring housing about 3 weeks ago and there has yet to be any movement.
