Also, anyone know how to get library jobs? I wouldn't mind getting paid to study a few hours a week.

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
I'm not sure that I would count them out just yet. I graduated cum laude, but was somehow inadvertently left off the list. Once discovered, a little email to Moy, Cliff, and Drod followed.dru617 wrote:Yeah, I'm actually stunned at a few omissions in particular. I think one glaring omission is a phd candidate and maybe wasn't included for a reason related to that (e.g., maybe the person didn't actually accumulate all their law credits yet).

With a normal curve, this would be the case, but our curve seems to be somewhat more bimodal. Rayiner would be the expert on this.Pokemon wrote:Quickly adding the number for magna and cum laude, seems to hint that graduating median is above 3.55.

I bet median for real students is lower than transfers who get 100% gentleman's A- grades. I'm sure damn near all get cum laude.

You sure? Do we not lose an equal amount of students who go to higher rated schools?Desert Fox wrote:I bet median for real students is lower than transfers who get 100% gentleman's A- grades. I'm sure damn near all get cum laude.

Not even close to an equal number.Pokemon wrote:You sure? Do we not lose an equal amount of students who go to higher rated schools?Desert Fox wrote:I bet median for real students is lower than transfers who get 100% gentleman's A- grades. I'm sure damn near all get cum laude.

Yeah, it's actually kind of shameful if a transfer doesn't get it. I know of at least one that didn't.Desert Fox wrote:I bet median for real students is lower than transfers who get 100% gentleman's A- grades. I'm sure damn near all get cum laude.

Well I have heard that firms can be snobby about transfers into NU and discount their GPAs at 2L Fall OCI or look at them very skeptically. Even if transfers get an unfair advantage for graduation honors they have a harder time at OCI which is when grades matter more for most people.

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
There's not all that much upside for the vast majority of students in going through all the life-disruption of transferring up from Northwestern (a T14 with better biglaw employment numbers than some higher ranked T14s). On the other hand, there are gobs of high performing students at lower ranked schools for which a shot at NLaw OCI rather than their 1L school's paltry OCI could expand their job options a gazillion-fold.Desert Fox wrote:Not even close to an equal number.Pokemon wrote:You sure? Plus, we apparently bribe rising 2Ls with scholarship money if they are a credible transfer risk. But that's a whole other can of worms...

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
Hey there, non-c/o 2015ers, I'm starting up an NU Law fantasy football league and it's growing quickly. So quickly, in fact, that we'll have to do two leagues. So, if any of you are interested in joining, we'd be happy to have you. At least one, probably both, will be a keeper league. (For the uninitiated, that means you can keep some of your players from one season to the next.) All experience levels welcome and encouraged!

That would be nice. I could easily be wrong. Alternatively they might also be late.homestyle28 wrote:My memory was 2nd week of July

Law Review comes out first, in July. Secondary journals filter out over the couple of weeks after that. JTIP is one of the last ones, and I remember getting my offer first day of PLIP (August 2).

Will someone post when/if he/she gets NULR so we know we need to wait?

They will probably come out sometime in the next week or two. But students are asked not to tell other people when they have been given an offer to Law Review (or any journal for that matter) in fairness to the journals and students that have yet to give or receive offers.VulcanVulcanVulcan wrote:Will someone post when/if he/she gets NULR so we know we need to wait?

So does this mean I should wait no matter what for a secondary journal, even if that doesn't leave me with more than two weeks to mass-mail before OCI starts?

Lol get used to it. Rule of thumb: Take the latest reasonable date you think you'd hear by and add 10 days or so.

Re: Northwestern 3Ls Taking Questions and Challenges
Does this also mean that we won't get the list of classes (for non-1L's) for fall semester until right before school starts?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
