I am surprised at the number of NULR people who didn't hit cum laude.

Yeah, I'm actually stunned at a few omissions in particular. Go figure...

I think one glaring omission is a phd candidate and maybe wasn't included for a reason related to that (e.g., maybe the person didn't actually accumulate all their law credits yet).

I'm not sure that I would count them out just yet. I graduated cum laude, but was somehow inadvertently left off the list. Once discovered, a little email to Moy, Cliff, and Drod followed.

Quickly adding the number for magna and cum laude, seems to hint that graduating median is above 3.55.

With a normal curve, this would be the case, but our curve seems to be somewhat more bimodal. Rayiner would be the expert on this.

Yeah, it's actually kind of shameful if a transfer doesn't get it. I know of at least one that didn't.

Well I have heard that firms can be snobby about transfers into NU and discount their GPAs at 2L Fall OCI or look at them very skeptically. Even if transfers get an unfair advantage for graduation honors they have a harder time at OCI which is when grades matter more for most people.

Not even close to an equal number.

There's not all that much upside for the vast majority of students in going through all the life-disruption of transferring up from Northwestern (a T14 with better biglaw employment numbers than some higher ranked T14s). On the other hand, there are gobs of high performing students at lower ranked schools for which a shot at NLaw OCI rather than their 1L school's paltry OCI could expand their job options a gazillion-fold.

Plus, we apparently bribe rising 2Ls with scholarship money if they are a credible transfer risk. But that's a whole other can of worms...

Law Review comes out first, in July. Secondary journals filter out over the couple of weeks after that. JTIP is one of the last ones, and I remember getting my offer first day of PLIP (August 2).

They will probably come out sometime in the next week or two. But students are asked not to tell other people when they have been given an offer to Law Review (or any journal for that matter) in fairness to the journals and students that have yet to give or receive offers.

Lol get used to it. Rule of thumb: Take the latest reasonable date you think you'd hear by and add 10 days or so.
