Wait, were you upset about the shirts or the truth?
mostly the shirts. the fact that it was reflecting poorly on the school instead of the economy. the fact that something was done by current students for prospective students to make the latter feel uncomfortable. i dunno, maybe it's just my midwestern sensibilities that didn't appreciate that sort of thing, especially when i already know it's true. i do the research myself, i know things aren't great right now for job prospects, i don't have to be blindsided with it in this way.

I mean, when the economy was doing well and UVA was posting up 80% in biglaw numbers, nobody said that the school was taking credit for something that was due to the economy. I'm not clear on why, with the economic downturn, placement stats are any less attributable to the school. Could other T14 students sport similar shirts? Most definitely.
But the school WAS taking credit when the economy was better. They were saying, hey, look at our 80% biglaw placement, better than Georgetown's 65% placement (??? i dunno) so come here over going there. That's how they got so many people to apply/want to go. If the school had nothing to do with placement for a good job, I'd go to the school where I got a full scholarship, but that's not the case. Now that the economy tanked, ALL schools are suffering, but here are the UVA people in their shirts, getting all the attention, making it seem (to the uneducated) that they are the only student body suffering.
I also said I was upset by the fact that 3Ls were trying to make 0Ls uncomfortable, and that was my main point.
