Re: University of Oklahoma 2010!
Ha.
Honestly, there isn't much going on the next couple of months. I'll be waiting on financial aid response, deciding if I want to drop a G on a Macbook and planning loan/living expenses. As said, we won't be getting section assignments for a while and the OU folks harped consistently on spending as much time with family and friends and doing as much fun reading as allowed by spare time because that business is going to be put on hold once the semester begins.

I guess I will be going. The GF got a job interview and we are also going to check out Bricktown afterward.isaiah6v8 wrote:anybody thinking of going ot the Innocence Project stuff on the 30th? I am thinking I will likely attend. I will be in town for the IT store sale.

Check out downtown Norman and Campus Corner instead. You'll rarely (read: never) go to Bricktown.Texan09 wrote:I guess I will be going. Is that because Campus Corner is better, or just because of lack of time and distance? Just curious.patrickd139 wrote:

Distance/lack of time for sure. Also, expense.

I think every place in Bricktown will charge a cover on Fri/Sat and there is nothing inside worth paying money for.

Most places in Bricktown: The Shore meets the girls from Rock of Love meets out-of-town tourists.
(The Mantel, Mickey Mantel's and the Wormy Dog notably excluded)
There are plenty of nice places to go in OKC, stay away from Bricktown. Hit up Midtown or Classen Curve, better yet, stay in Norman- DDs hate driving to the city.
Life is much simpler when you can walk home from the bars.

How was it? After getting to the IT store at 6:30am and then doing the housing search for the rest of the day with our realtor, I didn't have it in me to go. I wanted to, but my mom lives in OKC, get home, get changed and go back, was unlikely.Texan09 wrote:I guess I will be going. I wish I knew. The girlfriends interview ran long and we didn't have a chance to make it on time either. We decided to just hang out with some friends at campus corner and will be apartment shopping tomorrow.

it's too bad, it is really a thing I would have been interested in attending. I didn't see from Susan's post whether Craig Watkins was going to be there or not, but I would like to hear from him on this stuff, he seems to be leading the charge in Dallas.Texan09 wrote:I wish I knew. Maker's is pretty cool, went there on a date with my wife, good music, nice atmosphere, decent cigar selection (though overpriced). If in the City, though, I would suggest a trip to Big Truck Tacos.twade wrote:Most places in Bricktown: The Shore meets the girls from Rock of Love meets out-of-town tourists.

Is it driving anyone else crazy that we can't just start classes now? I kinda wish I would have been selected for EAP.

As someone who takes a Torts final tomorrow at 2p, please, please, please, please, please enjoy the fact that you're not taking classes right now.Texan09 wrote:Is it driving anyone else crazy that we can't just start classes now? I kinda wish I would have been selected for EAP.

Ha, that is the response I expected. But every day I'll be in class is one day closer to graduating...
BTW, good luck on the final. And remember, as bad as finals are now, there are many 0Ls who would love to be in your shoes. We still have to go through 1L and you are just about finished. Congrats.

good luck Patrick! I have to agree, even though I am anxious about getting started, I am still trying to enjoy the thought of a summer to just relax a little. I have been working for 8 years since I graduated, and even as a teacher for the last 5, summers aren't really off. So it will be nice to breathe for a month or so before classes start!patrickd139 wrote:As someone who takes a Torts final tomorrow at 2p, please, please, please, please, please enjoy the fact that you're not taking classes right now.Texan09 wrote:Is it driving anyone else crazy that we can't just start classes now?
