Re: T! Bottom 50%
I would like to work/teach at a school. My problem is that I don't publish anything. Hard to get those gigs without publishing.

Although, it certainly increases your chances of being fucked.
no desire for big law
no debt at graduation
would like small/mid law firm doing transactional work

I don't think the kinds of jobs you're looking for care about grades. Get relevant experience, meet people in your field, network, etc. Small firms and local government gigs don't usually care as much about grades as about what else you bring to the to table. So go get experience and network because really, once you're outside the top 15% (? roughly) it doesn't really matter whether you're top third or below median. (which is to say: for employers who care about grades you're probably already screwed, and for employers who don't care about grades, it doesn't matter.)

1) You'll note that Nony still said "don't *usually* care *as much* about grades..."
2) Even if grades aren't an issue, there are few vacancies. Most of the small law hires that I know did so after copping a state court clerkship while they were in a holding pattern waiting for a gig to open up. The rest were family connections and/or obscure language skills.

Re: T! Bottom 50%
Eh, I went to a T1, most people ended up in what TLS would definitely consider small firms. Any given firm doesn't have a lot of openings, of course, but I don't think it's quite as dire as you suggest - if you hustle and network and get experience during law school.
That said, good grades are never a bad thing, and I totally agree that the OP should study. I just don't think above/below median is really the determining factor for whether he should drop out, given his goals and the fact that if he's worried about being below median he probably doesn't have top grades at the moment (sorry OP).
