Look dude, law school fucking sucks in general. It just does. I don't get how some people enjoy it so much, but they do, and good for them. I hate almost everything about it. Almost. Since this thread is about you, I won't get into what I like and why. That doesn't matter. What matters is if you can find some things that you do like.

Now, if there's nothing you like about it; nothing that you can see yourself doing, then get out. But I would suggest you really think hard before giving up. Don't worry about your parent's money or the work and time you've put in. You have to live in your shoes, no one else does. What you need to think about is that this misery is temporary.

If you wanna be a biglaw butt-suck, then leave. Now. If you're in it because you want to impress people, or make what you think will be a big starting salary, GTFO and never look back.

Law is a big field with a lot of possibilities. Consider them before you go.

Best of luck.

But his grades are awful and his school's ranking is also awful.

I say get out now.

Also: being a lawyer appears to suck. Law is a "big field with lots of possibilities" if you have the right grades from the right schools. Otherwise the options are considerably more limited.
