And you can think prestige/going to law school for three years should merit you a job of $100k with normal hours, but the general pattern is ~$160 with biglaw hours, or <$100k with normal hours. There are an awful lot of lawyer jobs that are still in the $40-70k range.

You are right.

Actually, this is right only if one goes to a non-HYS school.

Many of those kids major in soft liberal arts and aren't making $100K+ a year w/in 3 years of graduation.

I agree. But I'm saying that graduates of HYS-like schools will be making $100k+ w/in 3 years.
Aren't many tls posters from top UGs? How much were you making before LS?

Consider myself TLS poster. From non-top UG, state school with BA in poli-sci. Work for state gov making ~$35k/yr pretax. Going to law school next Fall. None of my prospects coming out showed $100k+ development within 3 years.

ie. adding my name to dispute the idea that many TLSers are from top UGs.

Many, many ivy league types don't make a lot of money out of UG.

I went to an extremely top UG and I made more as state law clerk than I ever did before going to law school.

Admittedly I didn't go for any of the high-income routes. But I still think you're highly overestimating how much the average person makes coming out of college.

And if you only want to talk about people who went to top undergrads you're artificially inflating your sample. But I also absolutely agree with

Even if you did attend a top UG, there are only a handful of majors that lead to a handful of jobs that would net 100k. 1st years at MBB make 100k. The only jobs that I can think of are IB and SV software engineers.
