Some classes you'll have to handwrite as others have mentioned.

FWIW I hand-wrote most of last semester until nearing thanksgiving break when my outlines were coming together, and I wanted to just be able to add content immediately rather than waste time re-entering it.

This semester, I spent the first couple weeks hand-writing notes and then said fuck it and started typing so I could build my outlines from the ground up sooner. (except my no-laptop class).

Time will tell which method will prove more effective when I get my grades back in a couple weeks... *cringe*

ETA: also, I had my laptop die in the middle of the semester, so I spent a few additional days hand-writing until I bought a new one. My life is always so fucked.
