I'm sure golf is a good idea, but I doubt it's a make or break. One of the firms I interviewed with is all about running and a hiring partner even told me that it is the golf of the office. I was super excited because I'd rather do a Ragnar with other associates than go golf. All that to say, it depends on the firm and the people.

I have never golfed.
I can take future clients skydiving with me though. I think that is going to be my selling point.
