Recent Cooley grad here. Want good, bad, or just reality? Pop a question.

Attending Cooley is the result of having a [very] low gpa/lsat? I take it that a student with a 160 LSAT and decent GPA is nowhere to be found at Cooley ... yes/no?

With the decreased applicants primarily affecting lower ranked schools like Cooley, how serious is the administration taking it? Does anyone talk about the school actually closing if it gets much worse?

They are planning to merge with Western Michigan University.

The theory is that since both are having financial issues, that the merger will somehow fix the problem for both.
(not even a joke, that is their plan)

They also think that if they change the name, it will somehow "erase the past lies spread by others that are attached to the name"

So at the end of the meeting, with remember the goal of escaping the Cooley name, what name do they pick as their #1 plan to change to?????
"Western Michigan Cooley School of Law" (again, not a joke..............it is that sad)

They all claim to be, and I bet a few actually are, but you still have to ask yourself "why" they are REALLY there..............

There are people getting scholarships and people who needed to be on the 5 year plan to work, but they still end up on the same boat at the end. Employers don't care that you "could have gone to Harvard" they only care that you didn't.

And the fact that 160 is being pointed to as "good" says all that needs be said as well now doesn't it? (Any posters who are in a T1 feel free to tell us if you think 160 is worth bragging about)

My first instinct is to assume the poster is a too scared to tell the truth but still self righteous cooley student............but maybe not, who cares. Either way, it was a decent question, and there is your answer.

160 is TTT. Not worth bragging about at all. With employment stats as bad as they are for our profession, I don't even think a 165 is a good score. And I don't even officially have on record a score of at least 165 yet (hopefully I will in a month when my new score comes out).

Why would it be racist to say (or imply) that, at Cooley, there are many African American students who unfortunately illustrate and perpetuate certain negative stereotypes of African American culture?

I've got a friend at Cooley. They're top of their class grade-wise, but they've pretty much realized employers often don't take their school very seriously. It sucks.
