IMO its not like high school. Northwestern isn't very cliqueish. I've made new friends each semester. The gossip isn't any worse thanlike you'd find at f500 company that employes tons of young workers.

There really isn't a social hierarchy, just loose groups of friends.

I'd definitely prefer that. Maybe that has to do with a lot of students there having real world experience and being more mature. That's my dream school at the moment.

I don't know if my view is tainted because I did my UG at USC, but most of the Gould Law women here looked alright at worst, and a good chunk of them were definitely some of the most gorgeous on campus just because of how well they put themselves together. I've been struggling to imagine how schools like U. Mich, UCLA, Duke, NYU, UVA, etc. have pretty amazing UG populations and absolutely atrocious Grad/Law school populations. I'm glad this isn't all truth.

I have one more year in South Korea teaching English. I have a really bad tendency to lose all shame when I'm drunk. I really need to work on that. If you watched Doug when you were younger then you might get this reference when I say that I've bagged a few nematodes that I'm not proud of.

ETA that most tend to dress well and look presentable at all times, which is also worth appreciating.

Hooking up with someone in your section isn't a great idea, but it's not like the world is going to end. I saw a couple of people in my section hooking up at barrister's and no one cared or talked about it afterward.

Be aware there is a term called "law school hot". Its like beer goggles but comes upon you after bleary eyed studying in close proximity.

Gossip is fast due to smaller school sizes, you kind of need to socialize to network which will likely require drinking and your class will be split up into cliques. However cliques are not rigid - ie no one is giving you a wedgie for trying to eat with them. Most of the classmates will be people who ok to talk to but you will have gunners (nerds), everyone else, and slackers (jocks).

My recommendation is not to sleep with classmates. First, a percentage will be married and not available to you. Some will have kids etc. Second, the hot ones will be followed by every other guy so competition will be fierce. Third, the hot ones are not as hot as you think and are probably sleeping with upper classmen.

Also, your pick up line of "Im a law student/future lawyer/future baller" has no traction with your classmates but will get you much farther with undergrads, other grad students and bar hotties.

Undergrads are very credited. Just be prepared to have to deal with your female LS friends being annoyed with you. It's mostly just jealously and it's a minor point, but don't say I didn't warn you.

The whole "don't hook up in your small section" thing has to do with the fact that these are the people who will be in every single one of your classes 1L. You cannot avoid them if things go badly.

Besides the lockers that someone else mentioned, the other thing that is very high school is the fact that all of your classes are in the same building. You pretty much never leave the building. Depending on the size of your school, it may be like being in a very small high school - my law school has about 1/3 of the population of my high school. You will see the same people every day. That's why it's important to have non-law school friends, for balance, because all law student conversations eventually devolve into outlines, the curve, grades, profs, jobs, etc.
