That said, I'm also a rather nervous potential L1 at Ole Miss. High five for uncertainty! In all seriousness, though, this has been helpful. I live in upstate New York right now and I'll never get a chance to come down to Oxford before I actually commit to going to school down there. So the more information the better. It helps us out-of-staters a lot.
I look forward to class with you if you do decide to come down. I signed a lease for an apartment and couldn't be more happy. The new school is amazing and beautiful.

How are the housing prices down there? I haven't really looked into it yet and I'm not even sure if I want to live on or off campus.

I really feel like the biggest slacker on this forum. I didn't even decide I was going to bother applying to law schools until I got my Feb. LSAT scores back at the beginning of the month...

No you're right on time man. Housing prices vary based upon quality of housing, size, and amenities included. I'm going to attach a view websites for you to visit. The cottage I'll be living in with my wife is 1 br with 1 bath, a living room, and a kitchen. It comes with all amenities except cable and electricity for 595 a month.

We have just had OCI's on campus and there were ample employment prospects. If you would have asked me prior to my cycle where I would end up, I would have never have guessed Ole Miss, as a matter of fact I applied on the date of the deadline and only as a backup, but I have been having an amazing experience.

The new law school building is awesome, the new Dean is committed to making Ole MIss stand out and become more than a hidden treasure and the faculty is amazing. You will work hard, but the support is there.

Remember, that its important to visit schools, unless you are ranked in the top 20 or so, it all seems relative at that point, at least from my perspective. Practicing law is much more than a numeric value given to the institution, like most things in life, the ones who want it and fight for it will always be successful, the others will be mediocre at best.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask here or via e-mail. I wish you all the best at whatever school you choose to attend.

You applied right at deadline and already have a decision? That was fast?! How long did it take, and did everything show up on status checker?

I live in Ocean Springs, MS (near casino row of Biloxi/ Gulfport)... have lived in Hattiesburg... have been to oxford several times and here's what I can tell you:
Oxford is beautiful... it is a decent blend of quaint and college/ upbeat for lack of better terms. There is plenty to do (if not found in Oxford, it is found in Memphis...) The downside? For me... no beaches. I love to be on the water, and Oxford is a little landlocked for that. Another possible downside? The "good ole boy" network is no joke. That is just the way it is, not that you can't break into it as an out of towner... just that you are really going to have to push to become friends with those already in the network. Overall, its on my list of considerations... the price cant be beat, cost of living is perfect... but if New Orleans accepts me first... well that would be a tough choice lol.

Awesome, I'll take a look at those links.

Also, I applied on the last day of the deadline, too, lol. And I got my decision notice on Friday (technically Thursday). So it was like less than two weeks? But my LSAT score and GPA are both hecka over the Ole Miss median and even the 75th percentile so I assume that is probably why?
