Hey guys, im a rising senior in undergrad (graduating in dec), and IU-B is definitely on my short list. Hopefully I will get accepted with some $ because out of state tuition is pretty high

For anyone who knows the school or is a rising 2L or 3L, what are you favorite things about the school?

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere on this long threat, but in general how is the personal environment at the law school? I imagine it being pretty friendly, but I was just wondering about some of the experiences of you people who have attended.

Favorite thing #1 is the attitude of the students. It's competitive in that people try hard, but everyone is nice to each other, treats each other with respect, and generally helps one another out with readings, concepts, etc. Indiana students retain their humanity throughout law school.

Favorite thing #2 is the professors. I've been pleasantly surprised.

definitely agreed on both. While most places do have great profs, #1 is really lacking at other schools.

I wonder how many folks are going to drop out- doesn't look like there much there for people beyond the top 1/3 of the class. OCI looks ruff, although I don't really have much to compare it against.

Ok, reading the debate about the torts profs does not seem to be helping me make a decision on how to preference....the email we just got says we get to rank them from 1-3. Seems like the discussion is mainly between Gjerdy and Height....so is the consensus that Brown should definitely be ranked 3rd? I'm thinking about tossing a coin between the other 2 because they seem to be so vehemently love/hate, and this semester is most likely going to be hellish no matter the token choice I get to make. Any other suggestions before I do that and get back to my 0L summer of doing nothing?

Really depends on your personality.

It's not a non-choice. The professors have very different teaching styles that might make particular students excel. Don't throw course strategy out the window just because the classes are curved. Gjerdingen, for example, has historically graded with a very low standard deviation (which is not prescribed by the rules), though last year he used a more typical one.

And Gjerdingen definitely understands the material. I'm not sure why, as a 0L, you would say something like that. He has taught longer than many of the 0Ls have been alive.

Oh if you're a 2L, then yeah, feel free to say whatever, haha... I realize that might sound sarcastic, but it's not, I thought you were just some 0L who's repeating stuff. Well FWIW, I liked Gjerdy a lot. This just illustrates how peoples' opinions really differ on these profs, I guess.
