Re: Columbia 1L(s) taking questions
I've got 2/3 core classes and legal research. Waiting on 1 core and LPW. I've heard the soft deadline is next Friday.pokemonsters wrote:Any 1L's get grades back yet? All I have in so far is LPW =*(

Re: Columbia 1L(s) taking questions
For what it's worth, at this point last year I had no grades, nothing, not even LPW. So this isn't unusual.pokemonsters wrote:Any 1L's get grades back yet? All I have in so far is LPW =*(

Re: Columbia 1L(s) taking questions
Grades are like mono. You feel left out when you don't have them, getting them is underwhelming, and you're immune to them once you get some. Just relax. Knowing them sooner won't change the fact that you need to still work hard this semester.

Also, I'd echo the sentiment that grades at CLS just aren't much to ponder. Your career strategy is really only affected if they're quite high or quite low. The middle 70-80% all wind up doing sort of the same thing.

Re: Columbia 1L(s) taking questions
probably a little lower than 3.3 first semester and about that or a tinkle higher second semester (due to the higher elective curve). no one really knows since we don't have numerical GPAs.iamgeorgebush wrote:i meant for GPA. is it really 3.33 then?jbagelboy wrote:a B+iamgeorgebush wrote:anyone know what the 1L median is?

Can we get this thread back on topic, or change the title to "Columbia 1L(s) asking questions" or "Columbia Students taking questions"? Not mad, just think people might be coming here for the wrong reasons.

Sorry if this is a dumb q - but is there a gpa calculator we can use? If not, how do we factor in the points-level of a course when calculating a gpa?

I use Excel / mental math, but you can also use this: http://www.college.columbia.edu/academics/gpacalculatorjohn_brown wrote:Sorry if this is a dumb q - but is there a gpa calculator we can use? If not, how do we factor in the points-level of a course when calculating a gpa?

Multiply the GPA equivalent of each of your class grades by the number of credits the class is worth. Sum all those numbers and divide by the total number of credits.

Kraus just sent an email saying that there's been a delay in getting grades.

Okay, great. I figured it was something like that (or she cancels many classes). That sounds pretty legit then. I can tolerate that for 2 months.Tiago Splitter wrote:It ends March 12toothbrush wrote:does anyone have an idea about what's up w/ prof. robert's international law? it meets 2x week for 2.5 hours but is only 3 credits?
