I am interested in whether to buy books or not and any protips for any of these classes/proffs:

election law (levin)
corporations (burson)
copyright (mcmanis)
pretrial (shields)

Also if anybody has taken Magarian's freedom of expression seminar, Id love to hear your thoughts.

evidence - don't buy
copyrights - dunno, didn't take it. but i imagine if your book has the right cases in it, you're fine
patents - with the patent law being changed last year, a new book might have some commentary on it or something. but much case law? doubtful.
pre-trail - don't buy

copyrights -- you need the new version. well maybe not, you could probably get away with just reading the new case law that is in the new version.

patents -- just buy the old version. there are like 5 cases new to the book that you will encounter in the course. i have the previous looseleaf edition, i'd be willing to sell it to you for like, $50. then again since Baker is no longer teaching patent law youll be facing the high expectations and crazy course path Kevin takes, if adv patent law was any indication.

I heard the GPA was high. What are you basing this on? 3.71/167 would be decent for this cycle.

badmonkey is part of the incoming 1L class. He, by himself, inflates every statistic.

There's a badfish, but no badmonkey.

I also just realized I haven't met a soul from the new class IRL yet. Dat 3L apathy.

I've been terrible about meeting or talking to any 1Ls. I don't give a fuck mode has really settled in.

The fact that they haven't is a little concerning.

I think my 167 LSAT prediction could be a bit optimistic unfortunately. It looks like a 166 is possible based off the late waitlist movement on LSN. It took them a while to dip into the worst 167s though(don't ask me how I know that :)).They said the GPA was the highest ever at least.

Did it? Probably irrational speculation on my part then. I also heard the GPA was high though so that's good.

In my mind it took a few weeks, although the Dean did make a comment at orientation about having the "most accomplished" class of all time or something like that.

The dean said we were "in many ways" the most accomplished class. That means we suck. I'm guessing a huge drop in the LSAT scores.

Even if the syllabus says they may call on people? I guess they're only a total of 3 credits anyways

Who are your LP/LR profs? I literally never opened my LP book the whole year, and I only opened the LR one when it was crunch time for the test. And I know I'm not alone there.
