He's also awesome to talk to outside of class.bouakedojo wrote:Haha, several of us give him a hard time about it, but yea. I agree. I think he and Badawi are the two best doctrinal course profs I've had, although Kim is up there too.
Anyone mind parsing this email they sent out?Matriculation Ceremony - Monday, August 20, 2012
Dean Kent Syverud will be welcoming you to the law profession. This ceremony will be followed by a class photo and reception. Please dress in formal business attire.
Composite Photo – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
A Composite Photo is required and we have given you a number of opportunities to have one taken. Please remember to dress in formal business attire FROM THE WAIST UP so that your resulting Composite Photo will be appropriate to hand out to employers. The photos will cut off at mid-torso, so you may wear casual pants and shoes, if you wish.
Unless otherwise noted, students should dress in business casual attire for Orientation.

Ha, it says "so that it will be appropriate to hand out to employers"Oban wrote:What was that composite photo ever used for?
Maybe they put them in the resume books CSO is always emailing about? Mine was useful, firm needed a professional-looking headshot for a summer directory and I had nada till I remembered that they made us do those.Birdnals wrote:Ha, it says "so that it will be appropriate to hand out to employers"Oban wrote:What was that composite photo ever used for?
I didn't know firms required head shots. Learn something new every day

can you explain a bit more? friday is a community service project for us.Oban wrote:Orientation Protip: The overflow room is your friend, but it will be closed by Friday, thus skip friday.
don't skip Friday, the overflow room advice is so you don't get cold called in front of everyone during orientation.goldeneye wrote:can you explain a bit more? friday is a community service project for us.Oban wrote:Orientation Protip: The overflow room is your friend, but it will be closed by Friday, thus skip friday.

Do not buy the casebook for evidence with Rosen. Even Rosen says do not buy the casebook for his class. You literally do not open the book.TatteredDignity wrote:I'm looking for 3Ls selling their casebooks (or supplements) for the following classes:

Thanks!
Veteran move, and TCR IMO. It's all pointless lawl school pageantry, boring intros to legal concepts that you don't need to know, and counterproductive nonsense like teaching you how to brief a casefl0w wrote:The real protip:notedgarfigaro wrote:don't skip Friday, the overflow room advice is so you don't get cold called in front of everyone during orientation.goldeneye wrote:can you explain a bit more? friday is a community service project for us.Oban wrote:Orientation Protip: The overflow room is your friend, but it will be closed by Friday, thus skip friday.
Go the first day of orientation.
Skip all other days. If they say something about mandatory attendance, come in and get your nametag for the day, sign in, then bounce.

Thanks so much for telling me that. It's the most expensive book by far and can't be bought used because it's a new edition. And the rules of evidence are available online, so there's nothing else needed for his class, right?fl0w wrote:Do not buy the casebook for evidence with Rosen. I didn't use the book during the year but used it to study at the end. It is written like a supplement so I found it helpful. Consider buying the old edition?[/quote]romothesavior wrote:Thanks so much for telling me that. It's the most expensive book by far and can't be bought used because it's a new edition.
