Oh, I'm not sure of any specifics, I'm just saying that on the first day there was a firm that preselected me and their name didn't appear on the front page until about 30 mins after.

Sorry if this is not the right place to my question, but I'm moving from my country to St Louis tomorrow and I was wondering if someone could help me.
I need to buy a cell phone with unlimited internet access so I can use skype to call my family. Which cell phone company works well in St Louis? And what's the average price you guys pay on your plans? I don't need a fancy phone by the way :D
Thanks in advance!!

This isn't an answer your whole question, but I have Verizon and it's always worked fine for me.

Silly question...

So any interview we get right now is a preselect, and not lottery? So still have a chance for some of the reporting firm?

You know I'm not really sure how that works, but that seems like it would make sense. Especially since a lot of the firms haven't reported yet.

Also, LOL@me for thinking that the first day when 6 firms announced was going to be the light day. I think fewer firms have announced every day.

I would really like to believe this is true.

I have ATT, and it works fine. I mean, it's a city...I've never heard anyone complain too badly about reception. Definitely focus your decision on the price.

This for sure; get Virgin Mobile's unlimited everything deal. Verizon has the "best" service but even its not great and not much better than Virgin. (I had Virgin, Verizon, and AT&T while in St Louis)

I'm not sure why you need a phone with unlimited internet access. I could be missing something here, but I assume you will have a laptop to Skype from, and either way phones can connect to wireless internet. You should have ready access to high speed internet at school, and even getting internet for your apartment will be cheaper than getting an expensive data plan through a wireless company (Charter charges 20/month for 6 or 12 Gb/sec, while ATT will charge you about that for their lowest cell phone data plan, and the other companies will be similar).

If you REALLY need UNLIMITED access, I believe the only company who actually offers that is Sprint.

Can anyone comment on Dinner for Property. Hard to do a search on an important meal on this site.

Had her for another class. I think she got mixed reviews, but I thought she was alright. She is obviously very smart, but I think she may have been a bit nervous as a first year teacher. She needs to polish her classroom presence and I think she'll be really good. Outside of class she is really nice, and I thought her exam was well-written.

If you're in the Drobak/Tamanaha/Dinner section, you struck gold.

Also, what is with Contracts being moved to spring and Civ Pro being a fall class now? Did they really switch that up?

Hey Romo, do you remember from last year how the lottery system worked? We're like 5 days out from interviews and there's been no mention of lottery slots. All the preselects weren't in until like a few days ago. Should we just assume that all of them that said "Accept Selection" are either preselects or lottery with no way to differentiate?

Edit: Also, is there some master list of who (as in the actual person) we're going to interview with? It seems like only a few firms have listed who the interviewer will be.

That's crazy! I thought the idea was that they do common law classes in the fall.

Anyway, I didn't have Dinner for Property, but a guy in my study group did. The problem with her exam was that there wasn't enough "point-getting" and "issue spotting" to be done. This probably was the result of her inexperience with writing exams, and maybe she'll get better. But I know of several people who complained that it was tough to differentiate yourself from the pack, and these were people who did that very well in other classes.

She's really theory/policy focused, so don't rely on supplements. Really try to internalize her philosophical musings and pretty much repeat those on the exam as they apply to the facts (as always).

I think you're able to differentiate but I don't remember for sure.

I suppose it could still be forthcoming even at this late hour; things have been moving at a pretty glacial pace throughout this whole process.

wow, it looks like every 1L class is being taught this fall, with different sections having different classes. That's kinda wtf...

If you go back to the first couple of pages from the WUSTL EIW thread, people are posting things like "19 interview, 16 preselect/3 lottery/ 2 alternates." And they're saying that at the beginning of August. My bet is that they no longer differentiate for you. Maybe because people were taking lottery interviews less seriously?

I got an email from CSO yesterday offering me an interview with a firm I'd ranked towards the top of my list, but originally been rejected from. I would like to think this may have been a lottery pick

I certainly hope not...no one's taking lottery interviews less seriously (an interview is an interview), but people would like a realistic notion of their chances with a firm. In fact, I would think knowing it's a lottery would improve interview performance due to less pressure.

Plus, if my current # of interviews stays like it is...woof.

My thinking, too. You would definitely go into lottery interviews feeling like you had nothing to lose. What's the worst that could happen?

Really, really dislike this idea. Like passionately dislike it. I studied with a lot of people who weren't in my section. Now you'll have even less section-intermingling.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
