The schedule says Winter Break ends January 4th, but classes don't start until the 7th. What gives?

Unrelated questions.

1. For those who have done public transportation to/from O'Hare have you felt safe with a suitcase or a duffle?

2. Any recommended tailors nearby? Going to need a suit worked on and would love to get it done before orientation.

I've done public transportation to Midway with luggage, and Midway is in a way, way shittier part of the city than O'Hare. Unless it's at some weird extremely late hour, both the bus and the L are usually pretty crowded and therefore pretty safe.

Efficient? Cab is basically it for efficiency unless you have someone else driving you. I take the blue line when I go to O'Hare. From Regents you could take the 6 up north and get off on a stop near the blue line. Total trip will be a little over an hour, but it will only cost $2.50.
Ok cool, thanks a lot.

There are always people on the blue line to O'Hare with suitcases. It's not a problem. The thieves don't want your dirty laundry, they want your cell phone.

If you live in Regents, the dry cleaner there does alterations. I had her fix several skirts, pants, and a dress, which she did well.

So how's OCI going this year relative to previous years? Obviously there's not aggregate data yet, but are you guys noticing any trends it might be helpful to be aware of (certain markets better/worse, emphasis on WE, etc.)? Hope things are well and GL!

I was not a fan of Corporate Finance with Weisbach.

Are events like the OutLaw dinner/Sotomayor dinner only for the groups they represent? Are any of these events worth going to?

These are typically meet and greet / recruitment events for the respective organizations. They're usually fun and a good way to meet people, but not necessary by any means. They're open to pretty much anyone, not just the groups they represent, but why go if you're not interested in that organization?

I'm interested in the Sotomayor luncheon, but I don't want to be the only 1L there. Would that function have an intended audience/class year?

And I can legitimately complain because I sent in my thoughts about why it's a terrible idea and everything.

Is there a good sports bar in Hyde Park? No NFL SUnday package and my team isn't playing the Bears so I gotta find a place that runs a bunch of games.
Any suggestions?

There are neighborhoods you have to be careful, neighborhoods you should probably avoid altogether, and neighborhoods that are super safe. HP is one of the neighborhoods where you need to be somewhat careful.

Profs generally leave the building at the end of regular business hours (~5:30)

OCI appears to be way, way worse this year.

Bear in mind that nobody ITT is really in a position to make an accurate assessment. Lots of people I know, even without top grades, are absolutely killing it, and I also know some people who are really struggling. The Chicago market seems a lot tougher this year, which probably isn't helping.

Interesting first post.

But I echo Bils. It's hard to say from our limited perspective. I do no some people who haven't done well at OCI, but I also know that they have done lots of other things outside of OCI. And he's also right about people who are just crushing it. New York seems as reliable as ever.
