When I got it it was available for like $30 with an education discount. I'd probably just go with (free) Word over $60.

That's another good PSA: you can get Office 2011 for free through UChicago.

There's a Hyde Park day a orientation this year? Lol. If they want to give you the real Hyde Park experience they should just hire a bum to harass you for 12 hours in a Thai food restaurant.

It sounds really awful, it's like an extended campus tour including building tours of some UG library and then like 5 museum visits. On top of that they say several times that you have to stay for the whole thing or they will ban you from potentially useful future events.

Yea, that's the kicker. Why do they care if we stay the whole time? If the event is bad enough that you're worried about everyone leaving, maybe don't have the event, or spice it up a little bit. I'd be interested to watch other people go through Bildungsroman's suggestion...

I heard about this earlier in the summer (not exactly sure where I found it); incoming 1L, but what I had read about the lack of an exam software was awesome, so i'm really upset that they're doing this too.

It's the way you access lots of OCS information like the Who Worked Where List
It's usually where the syllabi for classes are posted
Generally if you have some kind of case or material to read that isn't in the casebook it gets posted there
Professors send out emails, but it's also where they can post announcements for changes to the reading, etc

It's Blackboard. I don't remember ever using it before classes.

Can someone describe the most efficient way to get to O'Hare aside from taking a cab, from Regents?

Efficient? Cab is basically it for efficiency unless you have someone else driving you. I take the blue line when I go to O'Hare. From Regents you could take the 6 up north and get off on a stop near the blue line. Total trip will be a little over an hour, but it will only cost $2.50.
