Woodbury. Does it suck? I know it's convenient, but what about the management and neighbors?
Harbor House. Does it suck? How's the walk to the park and ride on State Street? How's the walk in February?
Arbor Landings. Has anyone lived here? Is it feasible to bus to school from there? According to Google Maps, it's a 40 minute walk/bus, which seems a bit too long for 1L.
Are there other options I should consider? I know about Northwood and applied, but they don't tell you anything until late.
I feel qualified to answer this as I lived in Woodbury, now live in Harbor House, have a bestie who lives in Arbor Landings, and toured Northwood.
Woodbury- No, it doesn't suck. It's full of MBA/Law students. Some of the units DO suck, so ask to see yours before moving in/ask for pictures. The upgraded units are worth it, IMHO. Yes, there is a weird row of closets along a whole wall when you walk in, but it means tons of storage space. The maintenance people always came right away and sometimes gave me rides on their sweet golf car. They have a shuttle that will drop you off at the law school and the bus is really convenient. It's also bikeable. Kroger is right next door, which is convenient. It's also walkable to Dairy Queen in the summer, which was a plus for me. Yes, it's not as posh as the places I lived in the city I used to live in, but for student housing, it's fine. And more spacious than what you'll probably get downtown.
Harbor House- No, it doesn't suck. It's full of working professionals and for some strange reason, Dental School people. At least when people smile at you they have good teeth? The new gym is nice. The maintenance people are nice. They just painted all of the shared building walls lime green, which is strange. They have underground parking, which is really nice in the winter. It's a little further from Woodbury, but you can drive to the park and ride around the corner, take the bus and walk to the law school when it's nice (or take the bus and transfer when it's not, but takes longer), but for everything but the school, I think it's more convenient than Woodbury because of it's proximity to the mall, grocery stores/CVS, food.
Arbor Landings- These are about as nice as Harbor House. They are really far from the Law School and you'll hit traffic coming in in the mornings and going home at night. They have their own separate entries, which is nice. Fewer students live here...more young professional. It's not really in a super convenient part of town. You're close to an urgent care? Not that the grocery store/TJMaxx/Bagel Place isn't closh-ish, but not as close as the Woodbury/HH options.
Northwood- Don't do it, man. Seriously. Just don't. It's near North Campus and a pain to get to the law school on the buses. The interiors suck. Yes, it's cheap. Yes, the townhouses have space. But just...just don't!
Feel free to PM me. Keg can now jump in and tell you how far Harbor House is from everything and how it's super inconvenient. Really, it depends on lifestyle.
