Good luck Kings. I actually know of 3-5 people who are transferring (or were planning on it) to get back around family/significant others. It's not even July yet... so it is a little early.

Yes, good luck Kings. Wish you the best.

Do the LR&W classes use IRAC or CRAC?

Mine used the unnecessarily more difficult CREAC, because the others were too easy and made too much sense. Of course, it is essentially the same thing.

Well im in at UCLA, and yeah Creac is basiclaly the same thing as IRAC really. In practical terms the format of legal writing is the same but with minor variables.
Ive read probably 100 briefs this summer and every lawyer does it slightly different.

Berkeley hates me I think haha.

Just the blunt reality though, I think the opportunities in California for me at UCLA outweigh even everything I have at IU. Ive thought a lot about it, and Im thinking that I will be leaving for sure.

But, I'm also looking for a roommate for a nice place close to the law school in a:
2 Large BR, 2 Bath, newer, quality apartment within a 5 minute walk to the Law School. It is a super nice place in a great location. The rent is $750.00 a person + utilities and the lease starts 8/1. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you more details and some thumbnail-size photos.
You may want to try the FB page as well (if you haven't already of course). I know there is even more traffic on there.

Does anybody know what courses 1Ls will be taking in Fall 2010?

Edit: Based on the schedule on IU's website, it looks like we'll have Criminal Law, Contracts, Civ Pro, Torts, and LRW. I guess that means the spring semester will consist of Con Law, Property, and...?

I sure hate to see you go man. You have been extremely helpful and I was looking forward to meeting you. At any rate, we all have to make choices and it sounds like you've thought this out and I think it's the right move based on your goals. All the best.

Well, I have Gjerdingen (btw, how do you pronounce his name) for Torts during summer starts. He did, however, send out a warning that he has changed his course for this year and looking at past years stuff would not help much.

I just finished the first draft of my first brief, afraid to read it myself. Any newly minted 2L's want to look over it and tell me if I at least got the gist of what were suppose to do?

Thanks. I bought used books and its pretty funny that the first few sections are all color coded/highlighted with a key on the front flap and even notes written in the margins then...nothing. I actually laughed.

Credited. I put in the more work for torts (summer start) than any class since then. I briefed cases, did the reading, went to almost all the classes. And my GPA has significantly gone up since I stopped those bad habits. Causation? Idk, but you definitely don't have to do all that stuff to do all right in law school.

You'll learn more about men's fashion in the summer start than Torts.

For torts: Read the hornbook, learn to type fast, and get as much info as you can down on the test. That's all you can do, and the grades are still a crapshoot.

That's awesome, kings! Congrats on UCLA. It was one of my dream schools. (Thankfully I didn't get in because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to concentrate on law school when living in such a beautiful place.)

I have a question, which IU email service is everyone using?
I currently have an @indiana.edu at webmail.indiana.edu set up, which is basically some horrible webmail
But I also have an @umail.indiana.edu at umail.indiana.edu set up, which is Gmail
I thought they were going to be able to set them up as the same email address. I'd rather use the @indiana.edu address and thats probably the default for everything, but using that webmail is just garbage.

Name is pronounced Jur-di-gan. Or maybe Jur-di-gin.

The first brief is totally unnecessary. He likened them to being written by drunken grizzlies, or something along those lines. I forgot to do it, so I never turned on in, and it did not adversely effect my grade. I also don't think I really knew what a brief should look like at the time, and I didn't realize until fall semester. I still remember a contracts brief that was like 3-4 pages long, when really, it should have been a paragraph.

However, I really liked Gjerdigan, I thought he stayed interesting and fit my preferred teaching style. I'd get a Gilbert's, which I have become a big fan of.

You will learn a shit load about fashion.

His email is likely to prevent you from acquiring, attempting to acquire, or using tortzilla. I'm still gonna say it's a trap. Use it. That shit is still the best outline I have ever seen put together. If anything, you will find out how an outline should look, and you will never reach that level.

Just forward your email to one that doesn't take a large amount of unnecessary steps to check. I only log on to my account when I need an email sent from my IU account. It's really a big pain in the ass if you don't just use email forwarding. (My lack of email forwarding is why I didn't realize there was a torts brief due)

I am assuming "tortzilla" is a commercial outline available somewhere? Not some kickass funducational video game? I did buy the little laminated thing they had under Gerdy's section in the bookstore (I just couldn't resist guys, nothing like that security blanket for the un-initiated 1L)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
