I think that puts us at 7. Starrynight, glad to see you made your decision! Did the negotiations go well for you? I hope they worked out! As far as from OK, I was just wondering, I have lived in OK on and off in my life, but I am not really from there, but my family is. So I was just wondering if there were many out-of-staters heading our way.

Are you looking to go for Big Law? I got into SMU with $, but because I want to go into public interest or government work, I decided to forgo all of the loans it would take to make up the difference between my scholarship and tuition. Just a thought, in case you were interested in similar things. I actually spoke to a Harvard Law Grad the other day that wished she had just gone to a public institution because of the high amount of debt she was saddled with. Anyway best of luck to you.
I am not totally sure what I am looking for... other than practicing law. I visited the law school this past Friday. I loved it and I would definitely forgo debt at SMU to attend OU. I would likely choose UH over OU though because of my veteran status in Texas (I am visiting UH this Friday so that may change my mind). I will keep you all posted as decisions come rolling in. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Yes, thanks. I got a nice bump and that settled things. :) I'm so excited to finally have a decision made. It's starting to sink in that this is for real. I guess we're going to try to move to Norman sometime in July.

congrats! Alright, where is everybody else in our class? Only 8 of us on here? Check out the Facebook group, I suggested that we should get an intramural team together for several sports and call ourselves: "1L of a team". So if you are interested, let me know!

I love the name. How were people notified of any scholarship information? Was that in the mail after they called you?

I received my scholarship info in the mail. It actually got here a day before my acceptance packet.

Also, when I visited the law school last week they stated that financial aid packets will probably take another month to go out.

I actually found out about my scholarship info during my visit from Susan, but then received it in the mail a week or so later. Yeah, last I heard from Susan, she said it would be about 6 weeks or so from the time they got the info from the Feds. I think that was supposed to happen at the first of March.

The TLS folks outdid themselves on their April Fools joke, just try to spell law school correctly and post it!

Add me to the list. I committed some time ago, but I didn't realize there was a thread for OU on here. Congrats to everyone!

alright, is that 9 then? Good, let's keep it up. Did everyone read about the incoming Dean of the Law School? He starts on July 1st, and he is only 43 years old. Very interesting.

More important (at least in the short term) is that there's a new Career Services Director.

Is this a good thing? Did he do well as the Associate Director? I hope so.

Well I have decided to go to Brigham Young University Law. I emailed Liesa Richter directly as she had given me some extra time to reflect on the decision of whether to attend BYU or OU. I hope that my seat opens up a slot for someone and that my scholarship offer is given to someone else who deserves it.

Did anyone get an email inviting them to the moot court competition followed by an admissions event?

I didn't. Sounds interesting, though.

April 16 at noon - final round of moot court. 2 PM it says there's a reception hosted by admissions. I'm not sure who exactly is being invited because it opens by congratulating me on my recent admission and seems geared towards those that haven't committed to attend yet.

I went and visited the law school on monday and they called and offered me admission and an in state wavier today. I have to say that i was very impressed with the facilities. The facilities are very technology orientated and the main courtroom is pretty amazing. By far the most impressive thing was the faculty and students. While i was there two of the deans came to say hi and ask if i had any questions, and all the professors and students took a lot of time to talk to me. I feel like its a place i could really enjoy getting a law degree.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
