I'm taking Large Law Firms and First Amendment, and I have zero shame about that.

(I read half of the longer of the two Large Law Firms text books in an afternoon the other day... sweeeeeeeeeeet)

As far as living circumstances go, a number of people live in Lincoln Park or Lake View. I think that that is a good way to go. Cheaper and you can get a bit of distance from school. Living up North does make you a little disconnected from the drinking scene, but there are obvious advantages to that.

Apparently not, because Ray decided not to show up for class today. Hah.

I'm in American Legal History and Large Law Firms

If you're married, you should be able to get a place in Abott Hall.

Random question guys. Is there a decent fried chicken place near the school? My brother is in RIC across the street, and he wants me to get him some fried chicken this weekend.

I don't know if you consider it decent, but there is a Popeye's near Grand & Michigan (on the second-level row of shops on Grand just east of Michigan).

Its close enough to the parking gargage RIC validates for, so its going to have to be. Thanks.

HAROLD'S

Okay, so it's kind of an experience but...

http://www.yelp.com/biz/harolds-chicken ... 71-chicago

There's one downtown somewhere. Might have to take public transit and reheat the chicken when you bring it back... or drive... but it's worth it. So so worth it.

There's also Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles on S King Drive ... not quite Roscoe's, but it's one of favorites ... ah, the combination of 2 of my 3 favorite foods!

Unrelated to the fried chicken discussion, there is at least one 1L in federal courts this semester. Does that seem crazy to anyone else? Is it one of you guys? I figured only a TLS-er would have enough balls to take federal courts without having gotten back any grades.

Not I ... I did everything that I could to enroll in only uncurved classes where professors had a reputation for being generous graders.

Fact: U Chicago students end up drunk and lost near Northwestern campus at 1 am, not the other way around.

Probably similar to NYU being in the same city as Columbia.

I mean if you were going to go so obliterated you don't know where you were, would you rather do it in Hyde Park or Streeterville?

I rest my case.

I am actually a little disappointed by the lack of UofC/NU rivalry. I like a good rivalry, but no one seems to care ... (although the stuff at Wigmore last year was hilarious)

There is actually a Whirlyball competition between the UofC and NU Law Reviews, named the Mayer Brown Cup. So there is some rivalry. The UofC team played its ringers every round and did not drink, thus ensuring a win this year, but I'm pretty sure that (1) we had far more fun; and more importantly (2) one of our players allegedly stole the trophy after it was awarded to the UofC team. Even if (1) and (2) are not true, there are two other reasons why we won regardless of the final score. First, none of us wore shirts that said "Make Love, Not Law Review." Second, our school was not depicted in these truly horrifying YouTube videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0UN_ZIaYjQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0UN_ZIaYjQ.
+1 Thanks for the links. I lolled alot.
