p sure no one is saying dirty gym clothes are OK...
Pretty sure the implication was that most people will assume someone dressing like that is failing at other aspects of personal hygiene and grooming.

There's a pretty great world out there beyond jeans/polo and khakis/buttondowns. Linen/cotton blend pants are awesome. Hell, linen pants are amazing, just get them in a dark color so the wrinkling isn't as apparent. (Just a pair of thoughts in terms of light, non-restrictive items.) Pique fabric polos are awful -- but I'm sitting here wearing a "dry-comfort" polo that's got stretch, softness, and a moisture-wicking that leaves me looking and feeling dry and cool.

Style is highly personal, but I'd recommend taking the opportunities now to develop a casual/business-casual "uniform" that works for you.
Pretty sure that's something you can quite easily tell from being around the person.

If you're wearing casual clothes and judging another person for choosing to wear clean basketball shorts and a t-shirt, you're a fool. But that's just my opinion and luckily, I am not the type of person that cares what people think of what I wear. I don't feel that I have anything to prove. I'm going to be comfortable and do me.

I recommend everyone else do the same. If you don't feel comfortable in basketball shorts and a t-shirt, that's cool. If you do, wear it. IMO, being comfortable helps you focus on actual important things.

Fwiw I saw a person at the courthouse this past Friday in pajamas and high heels. It was spectacular.

This thread did not fail to deliver.

OP: what you should get out of this is that people will judge you either way because law students are intolerable.

Just do you. Kick everyone's ass in class and laugh all the way to the bank in your gym shorts.

That sounds awesome. When I reach near retirement age, I might have the balls for that level of YOLO/IDGAF.

Damn i never even thought about law school attire. I thought you were UNCOOL if you dressed up for law school - kind of like the polisci guys who wore suits to class every day.

Dress up ppl = tryhards
Gym clothes ppl= cool brahs (prob ex-jocks)

Also, TSL is proabbly suffering from sample bias; the fact this site exists is bc of gunners/tryhards

One of my good friends in UG pulled this off. But he went all in for both attire and effort.

^true, but it comes with its risks. Just the other day the sleeve of my Hugo Boss slim fit button down ripped at the elbow because I've been making serious gains lately.

I'm not a "normal" person. Those things are within my spectrum of "formal clothes". as in, I'll wear them but only on behalf of other people.

Those things are objectively not "formal clothes". Why would you quote yourself making this dumb statement?

I would wear gym clothes every day if it wasn't for the fact that I'm never sure who I'm going to run into, or what might come up that won't give me time to change.

I like other things about the new layout. And last I heard, some stuff didn't work right anymore in the old layout.

Exactly. I'm not concerned about impressing classmates so much as the real attorneys who were frequently on campus for lunch talks and other networking events. Not knowing when I'd take advantage of these opportunities I would never come to school wearing a printed tshirt or sweatpants. There is plenty of other comfy clothes that come off as more presentable.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
