Personally, I feel the LRW teachers have gone out of their minds. They cost me all my facebook friends.

I have to admit that day in con law that the email went out, I found it kinda humorous to see about everyone around me deleting all the dumb profiles.

What's all this?

Our LRW prof stated not to talk about our last assignment on fb or other social networking. Someone created profiles for the characters in the assignment and friended a lot of the class. the LRW profs got upset.

Wow, Krishnan emailed us his cell phone number in order to ask him property questions. I don't think I've ever gotten that before from any professor. I love how approachable some professors are.

And don't start me on LRW. I am flabbergasted the administration isn't doing a damn thing about these ridiculous threats. I'm glad LRW gets their jollies... wait... I'm not starting...

I can't believe he suddenly canceled the last day of class. I'm concerned about my computer as well. I have busted it to all hell. From what I've heard about the other property teachers, we made a pretty solid decision on Krishnan.

Yeah im pretty worried about legal professions class, I dont know what to expect at all from the grading on any of the dumb assignments, and feel least prepared for the exam.

For 1L, non summer starters got to pick Torts, and everyone 2nd semester got to pick Property. Outside of that its set.

Last year they got to pick ConLaw so who knows what they do this year.

Ok quick substantive question from legal prof. I dunno if you guys talk about corps and stuff as much as us, cuz its more Steele's background.

Anywayy here is hte fact pattern

“I’m in trial representing a British citizen, Nehal Mehta, in a civil fraud suit against Monterey Finance (MF). Yesterday morning, MF’s lawyer, Jo Solti, said that MF had just been acquired by Monterey Bank (MB) and that MB should be substituted in as the defendant. Well, MB either was or is a client! They haven’t sent us work in a while, but have sent us many projects over the years

So first you have to figure out if its a former or current client i guess. which is more just factual analysis on termination and all that. There doens't seem to be a conclusive termination, it wasn't on one matter, MB liley reasonably believed they were still a client. The only argument that its not, i guess is the time past, but I doubt the court buys that. so its probalby a current client.

So if its a current client usually, obviously you can't be directly adverse, here suing a current client, without reasonably believing that you are capable of representation and getting ICCW from both NM and MB, or mabye if there is an advanced waiver with MB it would be ok. so bascially the law firm is screwed here.

If its a former client its a little easier, since it has to be same or substantially related, and since they just bought them out it would be unlikely. If it was same or sub related they woudl need the ICCW again. The firm coudl also get screwed if they have any information about MB that would be disadvantageous to MB.

Questoin 1: is for imputation, it has to be a laterals right? so thats not applicable here (edited for my original screwed up statement)

And question 2, this result seems extremely screwed up. If you could just conflict out a lawyer through buying out a company, you would think it create some type of exception? I remember talking about something with that in class, but i dont see where it is in the model rules or anything.

So im guessing im missing some type of rule haha.

Steeplechase is where I am living in the fall. I took the bus to and from there, and it was less than 15 minutes. That's how I plan on getting to school most days. I have pictures if you want them.

Also, if you're interested, I have a 2BR and I'm looking for a roommate there.

From the amount of beer cans and vomit I passed on the way to school, it seems like it was a smashing success. Sadly, Lil 5 is right before finals, so I don't know what the fuck actually happened. I can tell you about some legal professions, but not too much about Lil 5. I think people bike or something. The Fiji's seemed pretty pumped.

I think next year will be a little easier to attend. I don't think I know of a single law school student who attended or planned to attend.

No kidding, now they everyone has double checked their facebook and left the corresponding groups. I am not surprised that LRW has continued to be the complete joke of the 1L's. Seriously, fuck them.

Edit: (Redacted, other than to clarify that prior sentence said fuck the LRW department, and not to 1L's. It was somewhat ambiguous. Fuck you LRW department. No one respects you, you group of TTT grads or flame outs from "big law" in Indiana. Yes, big law is surrounded by parenthesis. But I respect you for not killing yourself at this point in your life, as I would have put it into serious consideration)

Can you share a bit with us about this class and why it sucks so much? It seems like everybody thinks they're going to flunk the damn thing and that its one saving grace is the Pass/Fail grading structure. Now that that's gone for the upcoming year, what advice can you offer the 0L's to prepare for it? There's plenty of information out there for the rest of the standard 1L coursework, but very little for LRW.

My advice for LRW: is don't spend too much time on it, becasue of the LP/P/HP structure, obvoiusly if its graded next year then that sucks haha.

Don't give hte prof a reason to mark you down, don't miss more hten required days etc, or create fb profiles of characters on the assignment
I think I got median on just about every LRW assignment ever, and I don't feel at all bad about it.

Looking back, I wish I did the assignments earlier, and gave myself more time to edit and such, but at the same time, don't let LRW drag down your other classes, because those are the ones that affect your actual gpa.

LRW gets a lot of bitterness because of the busy work and structure of the class. Its easy for some people to get caught up in the work and waste a lot of time doing pointless things.

In the end Law review is 90times better for learning how to write then LRW

I mean obviously its nice to have great legal writing and research skills and sweet writing sample, but I think mine are just fine even though I only got a P . For what its worth my boss loved my writing sample as well.

Hey does anyone have any info on Heritage apartments? They seem to be an ok option for not being too far from campus and also being fairly cheap. They were listed on the Law School website so hopefully they are alright, but if anyone can back that up or can say otherwise I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Haven't been there, but it seems like a pretty popular spot. Not sure if there are any law school students there, but it's right on the bus line, and you could probably walk it in 10-15 minutes. It might be a little too far to walk home from the bars at night. I think it may be more of an undergrad spot, but of the slightly more responsible variety. I think the areas pretty cool. It's far enough from town to be quiet, and you are pretty close to the park and the mall.

Be sure to mention you are a grad student, as everyone gives discounts to grad students. Maybe don't mention you are a law student, because they can actually discriminate against lawyers (or almost lawyers).

THose are nice apt's, its a pretty sizable walk though, about as far as mine is now, whihc isn't awful but if you are adverse to walking a lot it could suck.
