What'd I say?

I got a PM saying that 15-20% of the class is more common at other top schools. That it?

Nine people from my section made it. Can I petition the school administration to have my GPA boosted to adjust for strength of schedule?

I'm going to wait maybe a week or so after orientation before I point out that half of them will be below median and 90% won't be in the top 10%!

I'd add a statement on how for every one person who is the top 25%, there's also another person in the bottom 25%.
let me know where you guys will be giving these doomsday speeches.

Yeah. I'd be surprised if it's not a school record. Several sections had none at all, or only one person make it.

FWIW we were also good at softball - we had the best record of any section team and only lost in the tournament final - and drinking.

The section distribution is crazy. Someone posted it on AutoAdmit.

Section A: 1
Section B: 0
Section C: 1
Section D: 1
Section E: 4
Section F: 3
Section G: 5
Section H: 9
Section I: 4
Section J: 6
Section K: 5
Section L: 4

Earlier this year I heard a 2L ranting that he got shafted for being in a section where 5 people made law review. He didn't know how bad it can get...

Wow. Did Section B get hosed by professors with fat curves at the median?

They just had to put me in J... There should be some adjustment made after the fact when they realize that they put all of the inhumans in the same sections.

If there are 30 people in a section, and only like 3 people get A's on each exam, how can 9 people make LR from a section? Arent you curved against the rest of your section? no comprendo

Most classes are 90 people and thus more A's roll around than that. You will have exactly one 30 person class.

Depends on the curve. I've had classes with both of these types of curves (numbers are percentiles):

1. 20 A / 20 A- / 20 B+ / 20 B / 20 B-
2. 5 A / 15 A- / 60 B+ / 15 B / 5 B-

It's a whole lot easier to make Law Review if you have a lot of classes with curves like #1 than it is to have a lot of classes with curves like #2.

Not only did H have about 5 courses with other sections--in which case as many as 12 or 18 people could have gotten A's under curve #1 (and 12 or 18 A/A- under curve #2)--they also had 1 or 2 courses with upper classmen. Assuming that at least some people wrote on, that the curves tended to provide for a good number of A/A-'s, that the same group of students dominated each class, and that Section H generally performed better than the sections they had class with, it's entirely possible.

I had pretty much all 1 my 1L year. That may be why J got so many LR types.
