You misinterpreted what I was saying. I'm not really "doing" anything, I just have some connections that I'm working to help secure a job for 1L summer. I was given some advice by a Duke law grad that even at a school like UVA working connections is the best way to help land a 1L summer firm job. Good luck!

I guess not
They include them. I just thought it was an odd question because I've never entertained the proposition of second semester electives not being calculated.

Given that every class is curved, you can't really gain an unfair advantage through clever elective selection. If you're trying to grade on to law review there are classes you should avoid taking, like federal courts and seminars with a guaranteed B+ grade, but assuming you take ordinary courses, the playing field is already level.

Interesting idea but I'm not sure why they would do that to level the field when the field is already skewed by the composition of small sections and the grading curves of individual profs. If leveling the field was even remotely a concern of theirs, law school grading would be altered to the point of being unrecognizable.

If I knew this last semester I would've found out (and tried to take a JAG class if they weren't excluded).

What's a jag class?

+1000. Their courses seem super interesting anyway. But I bet they maintain that A- curve by dinging the law students trying to game the system.

Also, I recommend avoiding legislation spring 1L - worth taking, but should be a 4+ credit course and its filled with LR people.

From everything that I've heard, I would avoid any class taught by Nelson as a 1L.

How much would ED to UVA help? I'm 168 3.88 so I understand I'm very borderline, but I've always loved UVA and the more I look into it it's becoming my clear cut #1. I was thinking about doing ED right when the app. opens up and getting it in early Sepember, thus getting a response by October. Thoughts?

Depending on the GPA median this year, I'd say you are in with an early ED application.

If you don't get into UVA ED (the promise you a decision w/in 15 days) then just ED to Michigan or Penn. Personally though, I'd retake, get a 173 and lock up HSCCN.

LSN suggests you get in without an ED. So I'd think that you're a lock with it.

Why?

Her/his cycle would contain a fraction of the stress with a 173 as opposed to a 168.

You've got a pretty strong chance of getting in ED, esp. if you ED at the start of the cycle.
I'm really thinking about putting it in September 1st to show them a little extra of how much I'd want in.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
