Is it true that WUSTL students put together a $200/ticket swinger's party to raise money for EJW last year?

Yep, I'm the loser with the 11k+ TLS posts. 8)
I know 1Ls who have met you. It's weird though, they call you by your real name.

Better than branding him with someone's name who is a poor excuse for an NFL QB...

I'm an incoming 1L who has lurked the shit out of this board. One night during a bout of riotous drunkenness all except one of the people in the apartment admitted to using this board quite a bit. Good luck to you all come Monday. I'm sure I'll see you around, though probably I won't know you by your username.

Tamanaha has been pretty roundly praised on this board for a lot of things, so I thought people ITT might find it interesting to know that our first Torts assignment is to read the case filed by a former student against Thomas Jefferson School of Law.

I'm not in his class, but I went to talk to him last week because I'm a fan of his blog, balkanization. Such a cool dude. Anyway, he apparently gives a little talk in his first class about making sure this is really what you want to do, so I'd bet that corresponds somehow to his assigning that case.

@wallacestevie- what section are you in? Just curious if I'll have classes with you.

Is there a fridge and/or microwave anywhere in AB that we have access to?

A fridge, too?! Gosh, what a swanky school.

I guess the dean was wrong when he told us we aren't guests at a 4 star hotel.

Was going to ask about this because I'd rather save money and bring lunch myself.

Also, quick question:

WestLaw or LexisNexis?

I am confused why we have both...

Do yourself a favor and be familiar with both. You never know what they are going to use at whatever firm or court or agency that you go to for your first summer.

Additionally, use both West classic and WestNext.

I think most people tend to prefer Westlaw but flow is credited. Be familiar with both.

0LNewbie,

I'm in E. How about you? I see you mentioned Tamanaha so I'm guessing you're in E or F. We'll probably see each other around, if we haven't already.

Actually, I'm in A. I don't have Tamanaha, or else I would have felt like a huge gunner going to see him before class even started. I'm just a fan of his blog.

I'm sure we'll still see each other, though. We just won't know it :-)

Given the size of classes these days, not necessarily.

He is a strong critic of the law school system and he is currently writing a book called The Law School Scam or something along those lines, so I'm not surprised he'd start with this case.

I love that Dorothy canceled our 1st LP class with him. Everything I've heard could be true.

As a side note, he just posted an article on his blog about law student debt if anyone's interested:

Any upperclassmen who have had Mandelker for property? If you have, it'd be great to ask you a few questions. I feel really good about every class but that one.

I did, and I actually did well in it. It is probably a muddled mess now though, so I dunno how much help I can be. PM me your questions.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
