How helpful is it career-wise to graduate cum laude? Trying to know if I should take the classes that sound most interesting, or just get easy A's. (Probably a lot of overlap anyways).

It is one of the very few law school accomplishments that attorney's firm profile pages list, so I would assume there is some value...

I think last year there were some cum laude that got coif. But yes that is rare and it probably was a 3.95 cum laude or something.

Last year, there wer some coif who didnt get magna and some magna who didnt get coif. Im guessing this has to do with the transfer thing?

There is a rule (coif's rule, not NU's) that 75% of your classes have to be taken on campus or for a letter grade or something like that. I forget what the exact rule is, but that's why transfers are excluded. It can potentially affect other, homegrown students in the top 10%...but doesn't tend to, IIRC.

Last year it was Thursday, July 2. So, a good guess would be somewhere between June 30 and July 6.

I wouldn't count on diplomas being mailed out that soon. I couldn't find anything specific to the law school, but the other NU schools seem to say they send them out 6-8 weeks after the degree is awarded.

FWIW, Dean's List is viewable on caesar transcript, at least for me. I'd imagine the only thing that anyone is wondering about is cut-off for Coif tho. Given that it would take a full 3 seconds to run a script to calculate top 10%, I'd imagine it'll take at least another week to turn it around.

What's the point of having both coif and magna!? From my count, there are all of 2 people who are not on both lists!

tbf, having your name appear on some list at graduation with 100s of other laude cummers is literally the only value you get out of CUM LAUDE so you'd hope they'd get it right
