I mean... only in the sense that I didn't even apply to Chicago, and there's a decent chance I would have gotten in. It was just totally unappealing to me. For one thing, I didn't want to be in a big city for law school (mostly bc of cost of living). Second, the law and econ approach Chicago is known for sounded very unappealing to me (and now that I've had some exposure to it, I know I was right). Third, it simply doesn't have a reputation for having happy, friendly students.
That said, I know a couple people who went there, and they seem happy enough with their choice. That's the problem with picking a school... aside from transfers, no one you talk to has the experience of going both places.
Even now that I have some ideas of possibly pursuing academia someday, I'm glad I chose Michigan. There are certain professors I've had who have been extremely influential in helping shape my interests, and if I hadn't met them, I don't know exactly what shape my interests would have taken.
