IMPORTANT DATES:
March 28 - Open House
April 11 - Deposit deadline for summer starters
April 25 - Deposit deadline for fall starters
May - Mandatory orientation program begins for summer-starters
July 22-28 - Sign up for parking.
August 8 - Deadline to sign up for Duke card.
August 19 - LEAD Week schedule.

Duke is a fantastic place and you should all come here next year.

Not sure if Leela already answered the rent question via PM, but I'll answer it here just in case. I think most people are paying between $400-$600 if they have roommates, a bit more if you want your own place. There are some places right next to campus that are slightly sketchy by my standards but dirt cheap and easy to walk to school, and there are also communities a few miles away that have a lot of nice amenities but are a little pricier (still, however, very doable). One of the nice things about Duke is that you're not going to be paying out the nose for rent like you would in California or NY. If Duke is your choice though, don't be afraid to start shopping around nice and early...things are definitely full if you try to find a place last minute.

Ditto, checking in late after an ED acceptance. More than stoked! Now just have to try to stay focused through the last semester of UG....

Is it standard practice for Duke not to extend an official admission until they receive financial information?

Also, did any of you feel the need to respond to the acceptance email?

Yes that is the standard language in the email. And no I wouldn't see a need to respond.
