Nope, you got the option of a tote or a drawstring bag. PLUS A BOTTLE. Good job, Harv.

For those of you who appealed your financial aid awards by emailing the Financial Aid office, did you ever receive some confirmation of your initial email? I sent my appeal last Wednesday via email to the Financial Aid office after reading that others ITT did the same. Haven't heard a word back despite the deposit deadline for Columbia being Thursday. The deadline on the main offer I used as a basis for negotiating is Wednesday.
Just curious if I should've sent in to admissions rather than financial aid.
Also, given that Columbia calls their grants "need-based" I am hesitant to call the financial aid offer to ask about the status of an appeal. Anyone had to call in regarding negotiations? I remember reading in a C/O or Applicant thread that somebody called about negotiating and the person on the other end was not pleased. Can't remember if that was for Columbia or not, though.

Wait, wtf, you got an NYU water bottle at the ASW? I only got that shitty over-sized shirt.

Ayup, they obviously love me more.
Got it on the housing tour. If it's any consolation, it was NYU Law Housing-specific.

Dammit, Columbia's refusing to negotiate aid >_> so much for this school supposedly being more generous than NYU.

I would DEFINITELY call them. I think I called the financial aid office 5 or 6 times in a two week span, and they were generally very nice about everything (I was freaking out about the NYU scholarship acceptance deadline). They're also very good about picking up the phone between 9 and 5, which is nice.

Awesome. I had already made the decision that unless I wake up with an email form them tomorrow that I was going to call, I just wanted to prepare for any negatives. Thanks.

I tried to activate my lawnet account via the admitted students website and it keeps saying "page not found" when I click "proceed." Anyone know why?

No clue, but the same thing happened to me today...not too worried though, I'm sure it was just a technical glitch. I'm just excited that I finally decided on Columbia and put down my deposit!

Same here. I'm attributing it with how bad the CLS site is in general. I get random errors or have difficulty finding things all the time. Shitty site, shitty status checker, snail mail acceptances, small social media presence..they probably don't have a great IT team.
On another note, we should make a pole with where we applied for housing like in the Harvard thread. It'd be cool to see where most people are going to be living.

It says on the admitted students website in the Join Columbia --> Online Community section that Lawnet won't open for admitted students until "after May 1," so that's probably the reason.

That would definitely be a cool poll to make. I'd love to change the poll since it's pretty irrelevant at this point. The OP doesn't seem to have posted anything in a long time, though...

I think I'll be one of the only people living in Brooklyn for 1L year... sucks how far it is, but I'm soooo not leaving my apartment.
