I'm in the same boat, sent my picture in on the 11th, so they might just be a bit backed up.theotherone823 wrote:

Are we supposed to know how to get into this Canvas thing that is mentioned on some of the first assignments or are we waiting for it to be covered at orientation.

I hope we don't have to seriously dress up orientation week. Anyone know if anything beyond business casual is going to be necessary? Not trying to go out to Chevy Chase this weekend.

A few weeks ago some people in the Class of 2017 thread from a few other schools posted about having to dress up one day at orientation to take some sort of photos, but I haven't read anything about it happening at Georgetown yet.schmooky wrote:samblackbones wrote:I hope we don't have to seriously dress up orientation week. I doubt it/seriously hope not... combination of DC summers + being dressy doesn't end well

I bought for the two classes I know.
Obviously waiting on the other two, since the instructors use different texts

We have that Dean's dinner on Friday, which seems to be the occasion we would be most likely to have to dress up on, what are you guys planning on wearing to this event? I was considering dress shirt and slacks to be on the safe side.

Yeah, that was my plan too, but I'm going to ask around on Wednesday/Thursday just to doublecheck.yafosho wrote:

Just an FYI, if you submitted a photo for your GoCard via email but never received an email from the office saying it was ready to be picked up, they never received your photo and your card hasn't been printed. Call them or stop by the office ASAP. They were able to take care of me in about 20 minutes this afternoon.

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
So far I have found the dress standards for this week to be exceptionally lax (and I have tried my hardest to push the boundaries). I am guessing that on friday almost 100% of male students will be in Sperry top-siders, pressed polo/brooks brothers button downs and khaki's. Naturally I am looking for a dress, and some size 14 extra wide high heels. PM me if you know where I can find some.

I think everyone's just taking a cue from the general lax (read: disorganized, jumbled) nature of orientation so far.

Hey Section 5- can anyone tell me where the first course packet is for Mikhail's ConLaw class? Not sure what the faculty support is, but I don't see it in courseware. Thanks!

Dear 1Ls,
I'm a 0L, and have a question about the on campus housing lottery. It seems that in the past all 1L applying for on campus housing are granted, even though not necessary their first choices. So if I want single bedroom, can I only list the single bedroom options on my application so that I'm guaranteed to get a single bedroom regardless of what type it is? Thanks!

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
It's best to ask the housing office directly. What they'll probably tell you is that it is frowned upon to not rank all the options; I'm pretty sure even if you only include the singles on your preference ranking, they could still place you in one of the other options. Either that, or you just don't get housing in Gewirz. Again, I'd ask them directly, but ranking only the singles is by no means a "guarantee" for getting a single. I don't remember how the preference application works exactly, but I think it may force you to rank them all no matter what. In any event, even the two bedroom apartments are still pretty nice. You still get your own room and honestly, you'll spend most of your time either in the library or studying at your desk anyway.xtgg5020 wrote:Dear 1Ls,

Looking for an outline: Vicki Jackson's "Comparative Constitutional Law."
If anyone could possibly access a bank or otherwise get their hands on one and PM me I would be very, very grateful. She taught the course at Georgetown for a long time but this semester is her first time teaching it at my school. Thanks so much in advance for anyone who is able to locate one. I'd be happy to reciprocate.
