It's a bummer when this thread gets quiet for a few days.
Maybe time for a new poll. RCO can we switch it up a bit?

Don't compare yourself to '16 though, we've got some big shoes.Muff wrote:It's a bummer when this thread gets quiet for a few days.

Deadlines for a few more schools were today; anyone making decisions one way or the other today?

Anyone living in Woodlands next year? I checked it out last week and it seemed well worth the 10 minute drive. Plus they have a signing bonus now that would cover the cost of parking at the school.

Anyone know how to ascertain what the official tuition and fees will be for the school year?

Re: UVA Class of 2017
I agree. The thread has been far too quiet this cycle. What does everyone want as a poll?
Also, I think if you call admissions they can give you the updated tuition and fees for the coming year. I believe someone posted that earlier.
If anyone has accepted their loans already, can you tell me when the disbursement date is? Should be listed in SIS. Does anyone know if there is a deadline for accepting loans? I know we have to finish the entrance counseling by mid-May, but I won't know how much I will need in loans until later in the summer.

Does anyone's loan counseling show as complete? I did mine over a month ago and no movement. Just curious because of the mid-May deadline, wondering if I should call.

For our final transcript that we send to directly to the school is the correct address the 580 massie one and just put Attn: admissions or is there someplace else I am suppose to have it sent?

I received two emails from donotreply@studentloans.gov confirming completion and saying that UVA was notified. If you have those buried in your inbox my guess is you're good.steelythews wrote:Does anyone's loan counseling show as complete? I did mine over a month ago and no movement. Just a heads up for everyone - Anne Richard is no longer with UVA. Cordel Faulk is the new dean.

Anyone else considering not living right near the law school? I can definitely see the benefit of being right there, but on the other hand, I'm thinking I'd like to get outside the bubble once I'm done studying for the day. I don't know -- it probably doesn't matter much one way or the other, but I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts.

Re: UVA Class of 2017
I originally considered this, but after talking to some current students and being in C-Ville, I changed my mind and decided to live on Arlington. There are definitely the downsides I'm sure during finals with all the stress, but if it comes down to it I just won't open the door if people knockmelodically wrote:Anyone else considering not living right near the law school? I might live as far as 30-40 min away. Not quite sure how things will play out. But certainly will not be in walking distance. I am not sure what you mean by right there.melodically wrote:Anyone else considering not living right near the law school? Re: UVA Class of 2017
I wouldn't worry too much about this idea of the "law school bubble." I live on Arlington and I guess while you'll see more law students obviously, people aren't actually running around in a crazed fashion, even during finals. Arlington is a great and convenient place to live and I would definitely recommend the area to anyone still deciding, both for the convenience reasons and the social benefits. I think for most people there will be way more times when you wish you lived close to the school (C-Ville traffic, weather problems, car issues, trying to meet up with other 1Ls, most of whom seem to live in the Pavilion these days, etc.) then when you'll wish you could be further away from the school (hasn't even crossed my mind really, but to each his own).RCO2012 wrote:I originally considered this, but after talking to some current students and being in C-Ville, I changed my mind and decided to live on Arlington. Also, C-Ville is so full of students, that you're bound to run into stressed out students about to take finals no matter where you go. I think that's both a positive and negative of UVA...because even when you leave the school, you don't really leave the school. You'll see classmates, professors, etc. all over town. I think I'll consider living further away from the school after 1L just from a price:utility (value) point of view. Depends how 1L goes I guess.

Re: UVA Class of 2017
Couldn't really find any places that met our needs within walking distance so I'll probably be 15-20 minutes away from the school. More options and some cheaper ones, still looking though. I keep seeing Barracks West places that fit but I've seen so many bad things about the place online.melodically wrote:Anyone else considering not living right near the law school? So doesn't seem like too many folks think this is breaking news. Seems like a strange time to be changing horses in the middle of the stream so to speak. Maybe it explains the unresponsive admissions office that doesn't seem to care if your messages are returned or notRCO2012 wrote:Just a heads up for everyone - Anne Richard is no longer with UVA.
