Re: NYU Class of 2017
Do we think that this 4/4 date is negotiable? I haven't received an aid package yet, but I have a trip scheduled to see the school in mid April (couldn't get off work until then) and I find it a bit rough that I'd have to accept a scholarship before seeing the school...

Re: NYU Class of 2017
Anyone else think their award was a little bit...stingy (given their numbers)?
I also didn't know that they could see what other schools you are applying for aid from, via the Need Access form. Perhaps the fact that I haven't gotten into CLS justified (in their minds) low balling my offer a bit.?

I imagine they are expecting negotiation (or at least hope so).

Do you mind PMing me your numbers and offer? Just curious if my NeedAccess theory has any merit...Humbert Humbert wrote:Anyone else think their award was a little bit...stingy (given their numbers)?

I don't have any reason to think this is true, but I could be wrong.paglababa wrote:What? Is this true? Re: NYU Class of 2017
Well I don't think this matters much, because one can submit the Need Access to schools one has not been admitted to yet (I haven't heard back from Penn and Cornell, but they have explicit deadlines for submitting the aid applications). So even if they can just "see" which other schools the form has gone to, they can't deduce much from it.lawschool22 wrote:I don't have any reason to think this is true, but I could be wrong.paglababa wrote:What? There is a field that you can populate on Need Access, though, where you can voluntarily tell the school which other ones you've been admitted to. Obviously anything you fill here is fair game.
ETA: I submitted my forms at the beginning of January, and still haven't heard anything

For those of you who got your scholarship offers, how long did you have to wait after you submitted your form? I submitted merit-only and my status says "in final review" so I'm hoping for an offer soon!

I have submitted my need access form, but still waiting to submit FAFSA (waiting on a few things from my parents). What tracker can you check to see what stage your financial aid decision is in? Do you have to wait until after FAFSA to be able to check?admiringatticus wrote:For those of you who got your scholarship offers, how long did you have to wait after you submitted your form? Not sure what you're asking. You still are eligible for federal loans, you just don't have to do the FAFSA yet until have you have deposited, etc. So no, you don't get a loan package now, but you will get one in a few months.Gary wrote:sorry for the bumpGary wrote:Hey ls22 or anyone else who did the merit only scholly application- if you apply for the merit only funds, do you still get a loans package?

I thought FAFSA didn't need parent info, whereas only the need access form did?

Re: NYU Class of 2017
One of the other schools I am considering requires parental information on FAFSA (even though they can't use it) so I am waiting instead of submitting it twice.paglababa wrote:zcobb wrote:I have submitted my need access form, but still waiting to submit FAFSA (waiting on a few things from my parents). Just RSVP'd for the ASW March 27-28. I'm from NJ so I'll probably just commute to the school for the events I want to attend. I also received my award package this past Saturday after submitting FAFSA and Need Access about a week earlier...definitely gonna try to negotiate and get some more money from them.

Love the new poll.
Seen a few mention that their offers seemed stingy and wanted to comment that mine was the opposite, like double what I thought I would have been extremely lucky to get.
For those voting $0, did you get a letter to that effect or no?

Yep! I keep looking for more. My goal is to show people that NYU is an attractive school. Most people don't have a complete image of it in their minds, so I'm trying to change thatthewaves wrote:Wow I was blown away with those pics. Especially that ball room

My friend goes to NYU Law, and so I've hung around the school quite often. Honestly, the area alone makes it a contender with Columbia. I really love the NYU area. Granted it's being destroyed by NYU, but it's still a pretty sweet place.
