It hinges on whether I can keep my same apartment or whether they make you reshuffle yearly like a dorm.
From the other thread: "They're 12 month leases, and once you're in you can stick around for all three years."

Unfurnished it is!
I can't remember- was there an option to preference furnished vs unfurnished on the application?

you can also choose the "either furnished or unfurnished" option if you subscribe to Columbia's "our decision is not to make a decision" way of doing things.

Awesome!
Can you tell us when you submitted?

And also (via PM if you want) what your Chicago offer was?

Chicago information PM'd

Initial offer on April 17, appealed on April 17, called on April 21 to follow up, emailed additional materials on April 21st that they asked for, and got it today...

Congratulations! I'm the biggest Stanford fan/homer there is (had a miracle happened and I had gotten in I don't think anything could've stopped me), but if working in NYC is your dream then you are in a tremendous position with that sweet Butler!

Thinking about calling tomorrow to see what's up with my application. I called last Wednesday to make sure they had received the files they were missing, but it's been a week since then and I still haven't heard anything. Deadlines are approaching :? :?

It was quite a reach, but it looks like they denied my request for need-based re-adjustment for the Butler. Didn't expect it, but would have been nice.

For those of you who appealed, did you email the Financial Aid office or Admissions?

Emailed Fin Aid office directly, attached other offers as PDFs, and got a response within 48 hours - really impressed with the turnaround.

I am about to send in my appeal to Columbia to try and get their final offer. I have $$$ from Cornell that I am going to mention, but I was wondering if I should even mention the NYU offer that is the same dollar amount as Columbia's offer? Any opinions on that since it's the same dollar amount and the schools CoA are very similar?

Same. Oh well; it was only 12k different from the NYU scholarship that I lost yesterday, so it's not a huge deal for me. I'm glad they finally got back to me though - now I can officially deposit and start the housing app!

If you are really considering NYU then I think you should include it. You might mention that NYU has a lower tuition and thus, an equal offer is nonetheless cheaper.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
