It took almost a month before I got a response to my survey. DW, it'll happen!

Nope, they have their own system.

They were on need access as recently as last year but they are no longer and option when you try to add schools. I would guess the questions are a lot like those on the fee waiver application.

weird that they still refer to it despite not being listed as a participating institution
This is outdated. The information on financial aid in the admissions packet (and maybe also in an email from the FinAid office that I received) it says that the application is self-contained:
HLS FinAid wrote: We expect to have the 2014-2015 application process up and running by mid-February 2014. Once ready, we will send you another email (to your official HLS Email Address) instructing you how to login to “My HLS Financial Aid” and begin the application process. You can then complete the online HLS Financial Aid Application on “My HLS Financial Aid” which will generate a personalized list of documents required as part of your aid application.

I'm trying to figure out if they only send books to people who they think are YS bound. so the gesture is just a little bit of wooing. And they think I'm not YS bound.

JS2->JSNO is basically a rescission and I don't want that to happen. So I thought that the lack of a book means they're not wasting a book on someone who
1. can't get YS anyway
or
2. is about to be rescinded anyway, so why bother.
otherwise sending a book seems to be a pretty automatic thing, I dunno why I haven't received mine yet. Unless your packages were all post marked mid-late last week and mine is en route.
When were you admitted? Those seem to be pretty extreme conclusions to be jumping to if you were a later admit (and even if you weren't).

Just got an e-mail that financial aid is up and it turns out, as previously stated, there is no NeedAccess component.

You are being ridiculous. Take a deep breath. They can't just recind an offer for no reason.
My book was postmarked Feb. 5th and there is no way with my GPA I am getting into Stanford or Yale. Don't fret, it is all going to be okay.

I'm just worried generally because CLS letters went out 2/7 and should have arrived here today if I were in that wave but apparently I wasn't, and now something's up with this book.
I know they won't rescind for no reason but I'm in a number of messes right now that they could loosely construe as a lack of character or judgment or whatever.
Okay, so there's absolutely no way HLS administration is just going to not send you a book as a way of passive-aggressively rescinding your acceptance. Just think logically about this for a minute.
That being said, it's my understanding that you are obligated to update your C&F portion of your application if something has changed since you applied.

Relax dude; you're fine. I haven't received my book either nor heard anything from CLS. They send things on different days and you may have noticed the terrible weather bombarding the entire country. I don't think Harvard's into passive aggressively rescinding offers of admissions (though if no book= rescinded admissions, they've at least made my decision easier

)
But as others have said, C & F issues should definitely be updated.
ETA: If it's not an actual C & F issue then Harvard won't care. It's not like they want to run around taking people's acceptances away. But now I'm even more curious about these "interpersonal relationships." Do you have a super vindictive ex or something?

Thanks for the head's up! Is anyone else kind of amused that they include a video tutorial of the aid process in the email?

No nothing has changed vis-a-vis CF since I applied. no details. it's other interpersonal relationships that were affected and some of the parties involved may know about HLS, so if word gets around to their office, I can see them saying it falls under "lack of judgment, character" if not "honesty, integrity, true and accurate representation"
I wouldn't worry about it buddy...they definitely have better things to talk about...like all the applicants still waiting for a response

So guys, when is it time to start finding a roommate? It seems like you can find 2 bedroom apts for $2k total pretty easily in both Harvard housing and via brokers.
Also. If you plan to spend the summers out of Boston, is it better to move in and out (4 times total! ugh what a pain.) or just pay the summer rent? Does Harvard apartment housing even allow 12 month leases?

I'm pretty sure harvard university housing is 9 month leases. If you get a regular apartment though, you can always sublet for the summers.

Yeah, it makes me think there must have been problems with previous applicants. You would think we would could figure it out without a video, I mean, we did get into Harvard...
