Ya, when I first signed up I thought username was personal, not public. I thought it was time to change it. And yes, Zordon... I suppose I was being indoctrinated into listening to talking heads on the T.V. at the tender age of 4.

So, you going to double Trojan reception? I know this could potentially reveal our secret identities....

How many people are expected to be there?

I actually don't know. But since we were allowed to invite guests (up to 3, though I invited none), I don't think it's going to be that large.

Hah, yeah that was probably a good idea just for anonymity's sake. Speaking of anonymity, I RSVPed for the reception yesterday, and we are indeed compromising our secret identities by admitting so. Should be fine though since we are Brojans.

Haha, Brojans. Works for me. And you already know my name so you'll be able to tell which one I am. We should all try and meet up for the main law admit day, or something... or not haha. Whatever people want, but I'm down.

Thanks! I just got accepted Monday, so I haven't had a chance to make any plans yet. I'll most likely be attending one of the ones in April

What is COL like in LA? Is splitting a 2BR apt for 800-1000/mo each a reasonable proposition? Is a car necessary in LA? Everybody seems to think a car is a requirement, but what exactly would one use a car for during law school that makes it so irreplaceable?

A 2br apt for 1600-2000 is not unreasonable. But, you need to consider the quality of the apartment/quality of the area/proximity to campus. Part of the beauty (if that is the right term) of LA is that there are amazing areas located right next to relatively ghetto areas located right next to middle of the road areas. You will be able to find something in your price range close to campus. As far as the car question you do not absolutely need a car but that depends on your situation. It might actually be cheaper for you to live further away from campus (45 minutes), save several hundreds of dollars on rent, live in a nicer area with a nicer apartment, and still have a car payment. On the other hand I know many undergrads as well as grad students who prefer to live close to campus, pay more in rent, but then bike to campus. They prefer being close to campus so they can study there and be more involved in the academic community. On the other hand consider the fact that USC is referred to by locals as The University of South Central for a reason. Do you want to be biking home at 10pm, especially if you are a young attractive female? (If this is the case feel free to PM me and I can help you out more…just kidding of course….sort of). This is all a matter of preference and level of comfort. In addition, as a word of advice to all students looking to move to LA, make sure to check out the apartments you're interested in first or have friends in the are check them out for you before signing any lease. This advice should be obvious to anyone smart enough to get into USC Law but still.

Does the scholarship amount become non-negotiable once we accept the initial offer?

I would presume no and I say this because accepting the scholarship is not a seat deposit. Who is to stop you or me or anyone from contacting them and saying "Hey I love your school and would love to attend. After accepting your initial offer though I received $X offer from Y Law school."

Any thoughts on graduate housing? Do they automatically pair you with other grad students? Desirable locations?

COL in LA is pretty high. You can get a 2BR apt with 2 people paying $1000 each for their own room. However, you won't be able to get such an apt for $800 per person unless you live somewhere like on the west side (personally I have never considered that area since it's sketchier).

If you have been accepted you will probably get some disccout depending on your stats, I dont think anyone goes to USC sticker anymore.. That's way too expensive. But it's purely merit based depending on your gpa and LSAT.

The double Trojan one? I heard there was also one for admitted UCLA students.... I went to the double Trojan. There were about.... Mmmm.... 30-40ish USC undergrads there, peppered with professors, grads, current double Trojans, and the Dean of the school (it was in his backyard). Everyone was chatting and drinking with everyone (open bar).

Everyone was unbelievably kind and genuine. Not a dog and pony show, despite it being an effort to convince USC students to return. No, it was laid back and cool; not awkward. Yea All Right was there too. He could tell you more.

Edit: Spelling

I meant the one they had on campus but either one is fine I guess.

"despite it being an effort to convince USC students to return" well that seems pretty obvious.
