When I called on Friday they were hopeful that they would get offers to everyone who had the 21st NYU deadline by Monday before 5pm (although they said they couldn't guarantee anything), so I'm hopeful that we'll all be really happy this time tomorrow!

Considering it but may have another obligation that overlaps somewhat.

So, potentially silly question, but I'm assuming your ability to negotiate fin aid goes away entirely once you deposit? I was told to expect my fin aid package in a week or so, which is the 28th at the earliest. I'm assuming that gives me no room to try to talk them up?

I have a similar question. Any chance they would see that you've deposited already and lower their offer before sending it to you? I applied late and will likely receive the offer after depositing (if i choose to).

As to your Q, I think it would be hard to negotiate after depositing given columbia's policy against multiple deposits. Still wouldn't hurt to try. If you're considering sitting out this cycle and reapplying the next, that might be the alternative you can present.. though I'm not sure how convincing that would be.

Schools can't require you to deposit before you've seen financial aid...but I'm also getting very worried that I will get my package on like April 29th and have no way to negotiate.

This really sucks :(

I love Columbia, but it physically hurts to think about paying sticker and accruing DAT DEBT. Can any sticker-paying folks PM me about their decision-making processes?

Looks like I'm not staying late at work as planned - gotta get home to that mailbox!

And congrats on having at least something! I'm fearing a big zero. :|

So I guess I'm not going to hear back about my appeal of aid before I have to make a decision because of NYU's deadline.... I had decided (after visiting again last week) that I would take Columbia at equal $$, but I'm not sure what to do right now since I have to make my decision pretty blind.
