I've done the whole Asia tour thing, so lmk if any questions mate.

I'm not sure. I just accepted a new job offer which I'll be starting in 2 weeks and I kind of wanted to get a solid 6-7 months in before school. If I do travel though, thinking a Eurotrip...

Where in Asia are you looking? If SE Asia, definitely go for longer than a few weeks. Once you get over there it's cheeeeeap.

Definitely considering traveling before school. I worked during my college summers and started my first job out of school right after graduation day so I haven't really had a break in a long time. I have some savings that I will be forced to dip into that I was hoping to save for school but I figured that I will be in so much debt after law school that the cost of a once in a lifetime trip won't make that much of a difference.

Looking to go to SE Asia for about a month-ish. I want to hit Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, maybe Thailand. cotiger's right, it is super duper cheap. I backpacked across Northern India for a month last summer and literally spent $500 on EVERYTHING (not including airfare) and I've heard SE Asia is a little bit pricier but not much. Make it worth the plane ticket!

Hello! I was admitted to Harvard and have been in shock ever since. The shock has worn off, so now I have a couple of questions about realistic expectations for my need-based aid. I just posted this in the harvard students thread before I knew that this thread existed! Hello potential future classmates!

I have been working for 6 years since undergrad making about 30k per year, almost done paying off UG debt and my cheap car. I have about 5K in the bank. My parents both make decent money (combined just over 6 figures). They won't be contributing any money. I have no other assets Approximately how much need-based aid should I be expecting?

Also, are need-based grants reassessed each year or all at once? I am getting married in the middle of 1L year and am concerned that might throw things off.

Thanks in advance for your responses :)

I live super far away and I'm not free on either of the ASWs. Do you guys know if I can contact Harvard about setting up a visit for just myself? Would they be able to maybe loan me out a 1L or something to show me around? I really want to see the campus before I commit but I don't want to just wander around aimlessly... thoughts?

Yes! On the admitted students' section of Harvard's website, right next to the place you register for ASWs, there is a way to register for an individual visit on (pretty much) any Monday or Friday through the end of April. They don't say exactly what they'll be able to schedule, but I'm assuming a tour/discussion with a current student would be included.

lol, they'll figure out who all the TLSers are by the massive wave of us signing up after it was posted here. Everyone else probably waited until they actually received the email :P

Also, I second paglababa's poll idea. But until then I am going to the March one. I think I'm staying at the Sheraton Commander because apparently I don't mind being completely broke.
