Did anyone from the early March acceptance wave get merit aid information yet? Am I holding out hope for no reason?

Re: UPenn Class of 2017
I don't think normal merit aid has gone out yet, only need based and named scholarships. On LSN, very few people have posted scholarships.lawschool2014hopeful wrote:Did anyone from the early March acceptance wave get merit aid information yet? Am I holding out hope for no reason?

Calling all ED'ers. PM me and let me know if you have asked for aid yet and how it turned out (merit mainly).

Apparently the deadline for those with named scholarships was around April 8th. Hoping they get e-mails out to us alternates soon and let us know about merit aid...getting awfully close to the deadline which leaves little time to negotiate.

Re: UPenn Class of 2017
I just sent Penn an email asking them when I could expect to receive the financial aid information since my offer from NYU expires the 21st. It's annoying that it's taken them so long. They denied any need-based a while ago.

I called U Penn's financial aid office the other day and asked when I could expect a merit aid decision. The person I talked to told me they were making them on a rolling basis and to let them know about any deadlines imposed by other schools so they could try to get me an answer before then. So I think they'll attempt to help you out if you let them know you have a looming deadline.

Yeahhhhh, they told me that too when I called a few weeks back. I told them I needed to know by last week. are we supposed to get a confirmo email on our 'commit to matriculate' form on ASW? Because I have no idea if that went through okay.

+1. I would like to know if Penn is a financially realistic possibility for me, b/c otherwise the decision is between two other schools, but things could get interesting if Penn made a solid offer! Although I hear they can be stingy (aside from the full rides/named scholarships)KatyMarie wrote:Ditto.Theopliske8711 wrote:I just sent Penn an email asking them when I could expect to receive the financial aid information since my offer from NYU expires the 21st. Well speak of the devil I just got my Dean's Scholarship. A good deal lower than what I got from another MVP and Duke, so I think I will be withdrawing. When I inquired about whether or not I'd be offered merit money at all several days ago, I informed them of my other offers, so thinking it won't make a difference if I try and negotiate. Really liked Penn/Philly but equally excited about other options w/ more $$, so will probably be withdrawing. Good luck to folks still waiting, and congrats to all who have committed to Penn!

I honestly don't quite remember; either December or January. It was during either the first or second wave--I applied in September.

ETA: Congrats on your Acceptance!! I'm just bummed about how long Penn is taking getting Merit decisions to people.

I told them, "Can you please make a decision soon? I have a deadline for acceptance at other schools." They responded with basically, "Oh that's cool!"

Re: UPenn Class of 2017
Same. Also, they keep hinting that they'll make a decision faster if I tell them how much my other offers are, which is really frustrating since I don't want to tell them until I get an initial offer from them. Why show my hand first when negotiating?Theopliske8711 wrote:I told them, "Can you please make a decision soon? I have a deadline for acceptance at other schools." Yeah, it won't help. I told them what my other offers are a few weeks ago (although they've since changed) still haven't heard a word since.mellow wrote:Same. Re: UPenn Class of 2017
Did anyone else notice how UPenn lists its housing/living expense budget as only $9,000 per year - only then to send along housing information which says most students live in Rittenhouse square? Its f*cking insulting.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
