If anyone needs to book flights from the DC area for the March ASW, an FYI that flights are $49 on Southwest today from BWI to Boston Logan.

Thanks for the tip about ASW! Just registered. Maybe the fact that I was admitted to Harvard will finally sink in now

I met Prof Ogletree (who teaches that class) really randomly during the MLK 50th anniversary, and he's great. *Really* into the fact that he was Obama's professor, but an interesting guy. Might help explain the reason for a class entirely on Obama...The-Specs wrote:My response exactly.charlie.black wrote:Understanding Obama? Hahah. Thanks for the tip about the ASW.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
I am relatively new to this site, but I followed along for a minute while I was freaking out about my post-JS1 wait and a bunch of you were very comforting. I just booked a place for the March ASW and it seems like nothing is cheap in Cambridge (I am from Detroit). If I was still working farm jobs, there is no chance I could afford to attend.
I do not have a facebook so I am not a member of the admitted students group, and I realize it may be kind of weird offering this as a newcomer to this site. But if folks cannot afford nearby places and are willing to sleep on the couch/floor (I am also more than willing to alternate with the bed), then I am happy to share my place. Just message me if you are interested, and I guess we could get to know each other somewhat through messages.

I'm wondering why they didn't send out an email to us telling us it's up. I'm so glad I checked this thread today.charlie.black wrote:Understanding Obama? Hahah. Thanks for the tip about the ASW.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
I know, it's a really great first message to send to future classmates. I just figured I would offer all the same. I may hop back on facebook to join the group anyways and get to know some folks in a less creeper fashion. Maybe I should have ended with "I promise not to kill you." That probably would have done the trick.

My first pick was "Legislation and Regulation" and then "The Role of the State Attorney General."TheMostDangerousLG wrote:What class is everyone trying to get into?

If you're going to do that, I hope it's with Manning.The-Specs wrote:My first pick was "Legislation and Regulation"
Edit: Realized it's tough for you to tell which is with who. Manning teaches 1.
If anyone is attending a class with a "1" at the end, I can link you the cases we'll be discussing in class on the day you visit so you won't be lost. I remember doing a class visit last year at NU and having no idea what was going on because everyone else in the room had read the cases. One condition: you agree not to raise your hand or speak during class for fear of being shunned next fall.

If you want to sit in on an substantive 1L class (Understanding Obama doesn't count), Crim Law will be the easiest to follow.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
How do we pick among the different numbers? Are they levels, or just the different sections? I see there is Criminal 6, Criminal 1, etc.. (Stupid question, I'm sure..)

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
Just the section numbers. You could pick by professor, there must be a prof/section list somewhere. I can tell you Crim 1 is Weinreb, and LegReg 1 is Manning. Both are great, and have very typical HLS teaching styles.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:How do we pick among the different numbers? Are they levels, or just the different sections? Re: Harvard Class of 2017
I posted the course catalog above, but I'll post again:
http://www.law.harvard.edu/academics/cu ... index.html
I typed in the name of the course in the catalog, and it shows which prof is teaching which section, then I googled the profs.
For instance, if you want an afternoon class visit, there's crim law 4 and 7. Type in 'criminal law' in the course catalog for spring 2014 and you'll see is that 4 is taught by Jeannie Suk and 7 is taught by Nancy Gertner

Hey, jingo, have you seen the Doodle link for the NYC meetup? --LinkRemoved--jingosaur wrote:@ the NYC people
I have a pretty open schedule next week so let me know about HHs. PM or Facebook me.
If you fill in which days you are available next week, we will have a better idea as to the best day for most people.
Seems that way! I'm gonna call it and say this week's HH is on Thursday. Any location suggestions? Is Manhattan the more convenient borough for a weekday hangout (I am baselessly assuming most of us work in Manhattan)?paglababa wrote:So is HH happening this thurs or what, ladies and gentlemen?
I'm going to leave next week's HH open for now in case more people chime in on Doodle. But as of right now, it's looking like it might be next Friday.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
