On another note, if we're looking for off campus housing, is there a certain time by which we should have a lease signed? Do apartments in the area fill up quickly? Thanks!
A lot of buildings wont even post availability until it gets within 60 days of move-in. Theres' been a lot of apartment construction in DC lately, with even more buildings still under construction. So... don't stress....yet

Yeah, it would make sense that only the Open House attendees got that particular email (which was short - like, 3 lines long), since it referenced the moot Supreme Court case the faculty presented during the event. Sorry for any added stress!

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
Unrelated to my last post: how many of you guys are planning to stay in DC post graduation? I would love to stay, but I'm angling for private practice and the realities of the market (and the grades required) make that a daunting proposition. NYC seems somewhat easier for Biglaw, but for a number of personal reasons that's not an option for me. I'm curious to hear how others are approaching things long term.

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
I'd like to. I'm going in gunning for Baltimore, NYC, and Boston (where I grew up). If grades worked out to where I'd have a shot, I'd definitely open that list up to DC and SF (where my family is now).Glasseyes wrote:Unrelated to my last post: how many of you guys are planning to stay in DC post graduation? The decision was partially dependent on my wife's employment situation, so I had made 3 deposits to cover all my bases.

Finally checking in. Admitted off of wait list last week. I'm a part-time student and I plan to stay in DC after graduation and hopefully continue working in PI/govt.

There's a good chance I'll stay in DC after graduation, too. Aside from T3, I actually think Georgetown is the best choice if you want to stay in DC. Just make sure you build a strong network while you're here - lots of YP groups and volunteering to make that easy. I currently work in DC, and I'm still pleasantly surprised by how impressed legal professionals are when they hear I'm going to Georgetown in the fall. If you want DC, you can definitely make that happen.Smitty7049 wrote:Glasseyes wrote:Unrelated to my last post: how many of you guys are planning to stay in DC post graduation? Checking out... just deposited at NYU after some waitlist action. Best of luck to everyone, it would have been great to join you at GULC!

Re: Georgetown Class of 2017
Thanks for the advice! I've begun the networking campaign already by hitting up my extended network of friends and family; got some dinner-and-drinks and kid play-dates (the one clear benefit of young parenthood) lined up when we arrive in DC. Here's hoping these initial points of contact blossom from there.mraemorris wrote:There's a good chance I'll stay in DC after graduation, too. Fellow PT'er here. Here's the link to last year's 1st-year part-time handbook. Some useful info in there for those that haven't seen it. https://www.law.georgetown.edu/academic ... ndbook.pdf

Thanks for this! Also, there's a PT student who's been answering questions - I think it was mostly over the weekend, but I found it insightful.JustHawkin wrote:I will update the OP with this for those PT'ers out there!Bull_Moose wrote:Fellow PT'er here.
