Re: Columbia Class of 2017
Just received the email that they're missing my father's S Corporation returns. Dreading how long this is going to potentially delay receiving my award info, especially considering I submitted the documents back in March.
Also means they're actively working through files from mid-March as well.

Speaking of that--I've sent in tax docs and got no response, and then emailed to ask if the docs had been received and also got no response

Same - I haven't gotten a response to the 2 emails I sent (about two different things) over the last 2 weeks. I guess they're really, really swamped?scoobers wrote:Speaking of that--I've sent in tax docs and got no response, and then emailed to ask if the docs had been received and also got no response

So where can we get columbia law swag? The online bookstore doesn't seem to have anything specific to schools, just generic columbia.

Just call their fin aid office and they will check and let you know. You can also ask if you're currently under review and when you can expect to get the offer. I called and it was quick and easy for me.scoobers wrote:You need everything in.mt2165 wrote:For your loan component yes.....I don't think so for your need based grantsStructuresAndForces wrote:Is the FAFSA required in order to receive a financial aid offer? Re: Columbia Class of 2017
I am an international student from China who has been just accepted into the L.L.M. program 14' of Columbia Law School. I understand most students here are incoming J.D. students. Hope to meet everybody on campus in the coming fall!
I am wondering if any of you (males, ideally in his twenties) are interested in sharing an apartment at either Lionsgate or Lenfest. Anyone interested, please contact me and we can start getting to know each other before we become roommates. Brief self-intro first: I currently work as an attorney in the Shanghai office of a reputable U.S.-based international firm and would spend a year studying in CLS. Am looking for a good balance of studying and exploring the wonders of NYC over the year. Thanks.

Re: Columbia Class of 2017
Maybe the above is the only answer to this question but maybe someone else has more specifics. On the housing application, you can apply for LS housing and UAH or just UAH.papercut wrote:You're supposed to just email them instead.fleurdelis2 wrote:Hi guys, I am filling out my housing form, and had a quick question...When I was at ASP, current students told me there was a box where you could fill in additional comments or preferences, but I couldn't find it. If I select LS housing, I can rank shared @ $1100/month and then Studio @ $WE. But if I select UAH I can rank shared @ $900/month and then Studio @ $WE-$200.
Is there a way I can tell them I prefer UAH @ $900/month, but if I can't get $900/month and can only get $1050-$1100 I would obviously prefer LS housing @ $1100?
Also, what are the chances if I put UAH at $900 (the cheapest option) that I will be able to find something at that price range? If they don't have it for me do I have to peruse Craigslist?
Does putting unfurnished or furnished help either way with UAH or LS housing option (or impact price). I really don't care much. I have crappy furniture I could bring with me, or I could use their crappy furniture. I just want the cheapest rent I can find.

I think it is only if you request for them to scan and email you the letter.wealtheow wrote:are the finaid offers coming via e-mail now?

Re: Columbia Class of 2017
The deadline for the housing app is 5/15 which is around when they will start to be processed. If you're definitely committed to CLS, then I think the best option is just to call the CLS Housing Liaison and explain your request over the phone, and you still have a month to do that.buffalo_ wrote:Maybe the above is the only answer to this question but maybe someone else has more specifics. Re: Columbia Class of 2017
Does anyone know if you can double deposit at Columbia and another school (at least until the date in mid-May where they make you pick one and withdraw from the others)? Or is Columbia one of the schools that makes you withdraw from everywhere else when you deposit there?
I want to try to negotiate my scholarship, but I don't know if I'll hear back with enough time to actually make a decision. Especially since I'm trying to see if NYU will increase their offer before I send stuff to Columbia.
Thanks!

In my Financial Aid Offer letter it said $85,755 for 2014-2015. I can break it up into their subcategories if you want.EvMont wrote:What's the standard COA for 2014-2015?
