im prob wearing casual pants but not jeans (but not dress pants) a blazer and a nice shirt and flats
OR a dress with stockings and my flats which is similarly comfy
for guys I feel like wearing something like sperrys or similar casual shoes with pants and a button up or shirt with cardigan would be fine .... but what do i know anyways lol

Would it look bad if I went wearing jeans and a t-shirt?
Although I suppose it won't look as bad as if I went wearing a suit and tie. Do people really dress up for these ASWs?

I'm really only planning on going a step up from jeans/t-shirt (jeans or khakis and a polo with tennis shoes), except for the night-time function for which they recommend business casual (in which case I'll switch into button-down, dress pants, dress shoes, and probably a tie). Maybe it's just my lower-class background, but I think people worrying about dress to an ASW are seriously overthinking things. I don't plan on judging anyone for his or her attire.

In addition to the DBA event Friday night that's part of ASW, the C/O 2017 FB page has a link to a DBA event Thursday night as well, with an open invite to 0Ls. I'll be going, and I think some people here will be also. If you aren't on the page PM me for details/links.

I think general consensus is don't look like you just rolled out of bed, unless you wake up looking presentable...in that case go ahead! Lol but agreed I think no matter what u wear you will not be judged ... After all you got in already

My status checker date disappeared today.

What is the consensus on time to mailing from this point?
FYI: Confirmation from Duke that they received my forms in the first week of March.

It should update tonight or tomorrow with a mailing date. Then add a day for the actual post-mark date (in my experience).

Sorry for being dense, but which date disappears in the status checker prior to scholarship information? I haven't checked mine in so long, and I went into it to see and I can't tell if anything has changed or not.

My status box has no date, but it does still say Fall 2014 Full Time JD.

The date that disappears is in the upper right hand portion of the screen. It is the date below where it would have previously said "Decision made." If it only says:
Duke Status Checker wrote:
Term: Fall
Year: 2014
Program Time: Full Time
Degree: JD
and does not have anything else in the box, then you are in the same boat as me and hopefully we both have good news coming in the post.

Thanks for clarifying that for my slow self.
That is actually exactly what mine looks like, so hopefully I'll have good news on the way soon!

Does anyone know what the best way is to go about submitting a scholarship negotiation with Duke?

I was thinking we could stage some sort of sit-in at ASW until we all get increases.

I hope so, mine's gone too lol
Guys,
My status and status date have disappeared quite a while ago (longer than a week), but I am still not seeing the "scholarship decision sent" on the mailings.
Scholarship form received 02/07/2014
Scholarship form received 01/28/2014
Welcome packet 01/27/2014
Priority Track application complete 01/16/2014
I'm also an international by the way. Any thoughts?

Honestly I would just call the Financial Aid office and say you just want to make sure you hadn't missed anything in the mail, etc. I called once or twice, and they were incredibly nice.

Well guys, I had a major project/deadline pop up at work, and I almost thought I was going to have to cancel my trip to the ASW.
But I worked something out, and while it will involve not sleeping between now and when I leave on Thursday, I can still make it (although I'll be rolling in around 2am on Friday morning).
Getting excited.

I think Internationals are emailed as well as sent in the post. Check your spam filter. If you don't find anything, then contact the financial aid office. It can't hurt to check with them.

Yay, I'm glad you can still make it! I will be getting into Durham tomorrow, can't wait to meet everyone

ASW is not off to the best start for me - my airline canceled my flight and I had to frantically book a different one this morning (hours before I was supposed to leave), flying out of a different airport. This is what I get for trying to come early enough to attend all of the events... I can't wait to finally get to Durham though!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
