On that note, what do you think the timeframe on this is? Start firing now? (I've got some things I can leverage).Thrive wrote:Got 15k a year. I guess we can let the begging and pleading commence.

Okay, here's what I'm concerned about. Any TFA people on here get the Teach For America 1/2 tuition award? I want to know when they're rolling that out/if they have and if my service was deemed…unworthy haha

All scholarships came out today, yes? I'm guessing, based on the email, that today was the only day and if it was not received today then I should assume it's not coming.

Re: UVA Class of 2017
Disappointed to receive no email but checked SIS and pleasantly surprised to find a 20k offer for 2014-15. Does anyone know whether this would be renewed from year to year based on what the emails said?
This could be a game changer.

My financial aid email was also in my spam--though their offer didn't come even close to the $$$$ typically offered by the TTTTs usually in my spam folder.

In the same boat. Not to get ahead of myself, but if the 5 TFA scholarships haven't been handed out yet, I wonder if they stack with other merit based aid rewards?

I still never received an email lol. Not even in spam, but I'm pretty satisfied with my award from SIS. Wonder why I never received an email.

For those who have received it as a scholarship per year, what is it called? Does it say anywhere specifically that it's renewable? Just wondering since the appearance of the award itself doesn't specify in my case.

Was very excited about seeing 35K/year (especially after being shut out by NYU). But then I realized how much in loans that still involves. Oh, law school...

My award absolutely pales in comparison to Michigan's...what gives? Does UVA take info from Need Access into account when doling out scholarship $, unlike Mich?

Interesting that people are having different experiences with Michigan v. UVA awards. My UVA award was $10k/year more than Michigan so I was happy!

Same situation here. Many people are saying "per year" while for those of us who've received no email it seems to be much more vague.BanjoCalhoun wrote:Disappointed to receive no email but checked SIS and pleasantly surprised to find a 20k offer for 2014-15. Re: UVA Class of 2017
FWIW - The email I received for Darrow says it's good for full tuition for the first year. Then it says later that the scholarship is renewable depending on conditions. In the SIS system, it only shows the amount for the first year. My opinion is that is just how UVa views its scholarships - on a one year, renewable basis. Obviously probably want to confirm before any decision is made based on what's showing in the SIS system.SicSemperTyrannis wrote:Same situation here. Re: UVA Class of 2017
Has ANYONE except the Dillard recipients received an actual email explaining the academic scholarship and if there are stipulations? Every other scholarship from all the other law schools have come as a formal "congratulations on your academic achievement" letter and or email. What's up with this? Has anyone called the school yet to clarify if this is a per year award?

I called just now. It is renewable for all three years, as long as we remain in good academic standing. She said we will get a letter from Dean Richards outlining all of this.smartypants2014 wrote:Has ANYONE except the Dillard recipients received an actual email explaining the academic scholarship and if there are stipulations? Congrats to everyone on their awards! Anyone know if we haven't received an email and there isn't anything on the SIS page, is it safe to say we aren't getting any merit aid?

Mine went to spam. Got 45k/yr -- didn't realize it was per year at first. Pretty stoked.

Honestly you should call and ask. I know I just called GW because I didn't get any merit in their first round, and they said they'll be doing a second round in a few weeks.dglenn26 wrote:Congrats to everyone on their awards! It just cuts out all of the speculation.
